No idea. Assuming redwood. My son got it forwarded from a friend at a museum they were visiting. I'll try to find out.

Found what I think is a pin oak blown over from recent wind storm. The log has gotta be @ least 40" in diameter. Gotta get some pics. Still tryin to figure out how to CSS . :bug::saw::axe:

Giant Sequoia at the Boston Science Museum. They have rings dated back to Julius Caesar from what I remember. My kids loved this.

It looks like a slice from a Big Tree. Sequoia is a bit smaller and so is redwood. The old pictures you see with a lane of traffic going right through them are what they call a Big Tree.

I seen a 7-8' redwood blowdown that had been cut out of the path that had almost 400 rings on it.

If any of you guys have never seen the redwoods and sequoia trees live and in person, you all really should.

I'm a big guy, but I'm humbled and awestruck seeing them in person.

I've got to head back out to NorCal and Oregon again soon.

I enjoyed the redwoods more than any beach or anything I've seen in this country and canada. I do want to see BC and some of their huge coastal spruce and cedar.
