HD usual suspects 269 ton Lacretes - 295 ton Oil - $1.99 gallon Looks like ill fill the tank & buy all cretes.. For 30clams more than big box ... Its a no brainer..
I keep seeing Pellets going up another $10 a ton every few weeks, and Oil down to $2.00. Its becoming a no brainer, fill the oil tank. I think a lot of pellet people will be using the thermostat if this keeps up.
Diesel is $1 + cheaper a gallon today than last year at this time - but trucking prices haven't dropped. As a manufacturer, I'm selling at the same prices. Easy Blaze Super Premium and Blend
I don't know about HH oil but gas is predicted to continue to drop. I suspect, though, the oil will start to go up like it usually does once the cold weather sets in.
At those prices, and average efficiency numbers for both, the LaCrete's will cost $23.06/million BTU, and the HHO $17.37 No brainer there what I'd be burning the most of.
Boycott on pellets by the sounds of most of the people I have spoken too. With electric still stupid $$$ I have not much choice besides fire wood and even what is supposed to be seasoned cord wood, Sure looks green to me. Bio bricks don't offer any savings over pellets...... Corn price is still up. I'm kind of stuck, But will do what I can to save something!! Got to find the grass mans phone# and give him a shout next!!
I don't have the luxury of oil and burn pellets. Lucky for me I have a very small, well insulated house and it will just cost me about an extra $200 to heat for the season ahead. Burning just the premium stuff and forgetting about the rest... Considering I have been heating over the last five years @ $650 a season, nothing lasts forever...
Strange. My neighbor is in charge of shipping for a steel business. He tells me how fuel surcharge is way down, and I know there is New England rate, and East coast rate.
Bought in and pretty much filled the twin tanks at 1.95 a gallon last week dropped more today I can get for 1.92. Ugh.
Hmm, after waking up a bit more, your saying wholesale is the same price, but retail is the price increase this year. So some due to transportation, the rest dealer margin.
I'm selling at the same price as last year as well....but probably like Steve, don't set retail selling prices...that is up to each dealer in their own market....
I have expensive propane. So I am still doing pellets. But only one out of five others are doing either Nat gas or oil. This is why the reports of brisk pellet sales is so confusing to me. I didn't even stock up fully because if i run out or decide to heat with proopane or electric to off set my lack of pellets, no biggie. Disclosure: I do see myself buying them as I see them at the boxes because inwont be able to help myself.
I was paying $3.10-3.25 mile out of VA to the North East last year. Price hasn't budged. Freight folks said they weren't making money last year. Secondly back hauls are more difficult. If anyone has better rates they can share let me know will pass them on to the consumer or at least the retailer as they set the prices.
If you would like to quickly compare fuel prices, try this EXCEL spreadsheet. Just plug in current numbers as necessary: http://www.eia.gov/tools/faqs/heatcalc.xls KaptJaq
Replying to myself for clarity. Only one out of five pellet pellet burners I know personally are buying pellets right now.
