my neighbor needed some help with some storage cubes so we put them together this morning , ill try to get a picture when they are installed .
Very nice shop and tools. Good neighbor for helping. I'm still plugging away at getting mine cleaned up so I can actually build something out there.
Well your neighbor sure has got the "right stuff" for tools. Over 4K of Powermatic iron in the first photo. I've been getting slivers for 50+ years and I still ain't got Powermatic iron. And they look brand new. I'm still buying old iron and reconditioning. Oh well, like my dad used to say, "tools don't make the craftsman". No, in all seriousness, good luck on the shelves, looks like he is off to a good start.
It took years of upgrades , didn't happen overnight and my income does depend on them ,i think the saw is about 10 years old now , time does fly.
just general storage, he was told recently to clean up the basement,he is a burner though but keeps much of his wood at my place, he has one stack and a small shed we built a couple years ago, thats all he is allowed , needs to keep the peace.
Unclefess, I didn't mean my post to come across condescending about having nice tools. But, so many things that I buy are purchased from guys that thought they wanted to 'get into" woodworking and then realize that it is not just about the tools but more about craftsmanship and spending the time to get good at it. If you are trading time with your neighbor on getting good at this little box that I am using right now for some woodworking time, you got a great deal. I would take that trade any day. Seriously, the Powermatic equipment looks brand new and if they are 10 years old that is great.
i did not take it that way at all, this way of communicating leaves a lot to interpretation ( and i dont know how to do smileys yet ) i have been a woodworker for a long time and dont mind helping friends and neighbors ,anything is better than being inside and the shop is my happy place.
Great shop. I would have killed for the bench saw setup you have for large sheets back when I made PA system speaker cabinets. Brings back lots of good memories... and, very cool to work with your neighbor on things like that too.
I think i can recall a number of very impressive things you've built sir . The side table came with it the outfeed table i made out of black melamine . it folds down when not needed and is held up with a roller stand , and yes its perfect for sheet goods , cabinets are what i do the most.
Thanks UF. Your bench set-up also reminds of a place we did business with in Trenton Maine a long while back. They were called Display Concepts, and their main thing was making foam and plexi lettering and interior store displays. Their main room had bench saw workstations that had huge side tables to hold 4x8 sheet stock in any direction while cutting. I see you also have some roller stands which is what I've always used. Those table sides must really make it a pleasure to cut up the big stuff.

I remember the first time my son, now 22, heard an old Delta Unisaw and a Powermatic table saw when I turned them on. Dad, that is a great saw, it just "hums" not runs.
What I have found is floor space is valuable in a woodshop, but when you combine that with metal working functionality it just gets
i stopped saving everything years ago , most of what i do is work not fun stuff so i need to be as efficient as possible ,its hard tossing stuff but necessary, and yes good neighbors are a gift and i need to keep them happy with all the noise i make.
