Boat Ride Pictures

We had to get out of the way when we saw a plane coming, it did a short landing an took off again.

The water on Carry Falls Reservoir is down 20 feet.

If I took pics of the years first boat ride, you would see me paddling about 1/2 mile or so...(with the wind thankfully)

 

Nice boat ride. Looked like perfect weather. I am not familiar with the birds?

 

I think both are Hawks, not sure what kind.

I saw the plane when he was making his turn way up from us, once he started our way it was very hard to pick the plane up but we did in plenty of time, we've been up at this place lots of times and this is the first we've seen a plane.

 

I would think you would have the right of way over the plane! Of course I have never seen a plane land on the water in person!!

 

plane landing or taking off on the water doesn't have much maneuverability. Once the air speed gets lower, things can get pretty exciting if you have to turn abruptly. Planes on the water have the same right-of-way as boats. Planes landing have right-of-way over boats. Planes can not make quick maneuvers on the water either. So the best bet is to stay out of a plane's way while it is taxing, taking off or landing.

We are fortunate to watch many seaplanes take off and land from our living room window. It is a sound and sight that I really enjoy.

 

Hmmm...Thanks that's good to know, Just seems like the plane has a much better view of the landscape when it's landing!

 

It may have a better view of the landscape but once a plane starts into landing, a quick small boat can get in the way faster than the plane can avoid it. Doing fancy turns on landing can get you in trouble real quick.
