Anyone here besides bogydave have a "cleanout pipe" for pumping rather than a manhole lid? If so, how does one get in there to get the lines jetted? Or even to look if the baffle is clogged?
Time for me to join the party... Septic alarm went off tonight. Tank full of liquids. Pulled the pump and it was clogged full of long hair ... Luckily the motor didn't burn up.. Put it back together and back in business.
Just a little update......Talked to the Health Dept., and went in today to pay for the permit. Frost laws are off, so I also called the guy who'll be doing the new system. They're about 2 weeks out, so that gives me time to do some other stuff. I'm hoping the health dept guy can get out here by Friday, so I can know what needs to be done. I'll update as I have info, and of course there will be pics.
HD called just after 8 this am, and he'll be here at 10am, in 10 minutes. This should be interesting.
HD guy just left. Had a nice chat with him. The system should be fairly simple, so hopefully less expensive. New tank, 600 sq. ft. field.....nuthin' fancy. HD will fax the requirements. to septic guy. Now, to get the septic guy out to get started.
Things seem to be moving right along.......got a call from the septic guys wife this morning to give me the price for the new system. Probably won't happen this coming week, but possibly next week. The new 1000 gallon tank needs to be put farther away from the house. Old one is only about 16' from the existing well. Might explain why I'm growing that 3rd man-boob.
Got a call this am that weather permitting, he'll be here Friday. Monday at the latest. I'm thinking Friday, since the weather should be nice starting tomorrow right on though Saturday.
Glad to hear things are coming along dave Make sure they put on an outlet filter. It will need cleaned maybe twice a year but will keep any solids from going into the leach field Mine looked like this our guy attached a length of 1/2 plastic tubing to the top of the filter cartridge that extended it up to right under the riser lid. that makes it easy to reach and pull up to spray it clean with a hose. It took about 8 months to completely clog the filter and back up
Looks like you are heading for a good and final resolution to this problem. So what is on your hit list for next? You did the insulation thing, the stove thing, and the window thing, Your list must be getting short!
Still a pretty long list. Wife and I were talking yesterday (again) about putting up a 3 season porch and a slider on the west wall of the living room. There's a few things I need to finish first. Stove room trim is first (after I get done downstate at son's place). We're REALLY looking forward to having this septic thing behind us.
