Our three dogs went wild with barking this afternoon and we went outside to find two RCMP officers with rifles in the vacant lot next door. They weren't hunting convicts, they were hunting cougar (mountain lion). A little later as we were sitting in front of our front window with the marvelous view, I said to Campinspecter - so have you seen the cougar yet? No sooner had I said it that out of the blackberries walked the cougar, found a sunny spot and laid down. Campinspecter grabbed the camera and got a good shot of it while I phoned the RCMP Same picture, just cropped The cougar finally got up and disappeared into the blackberries. Needless to say, our dogs won't be going outside without supervision and Campinpsecter isn't picking blackberries without a companion.
That's kind of a serious wake up call... whew. Allan gonna have a noise maker picking blackberries next time?
He does wear bear bells while picking but when you are standing still they aren't as effective as when you are walking or hiking.
That is scary, and am i the only one to read to title and think this thread may be headed a different direction?
Reminds me of Danny DeVito and cousin Patty in Trains Planes and Automobiles (fast forward to about the 1 minute mark)
Cougar must be prowling around somewhere else as we saw a three point buck eating blackberries last night.
