Only 758 miles away! That could be worth a truckload or two......... Not telling the miss where I got it from either she already thinks I'm insane Nice score Steve.
I might as well be! I was pretty amazed, he is currently an out of work mechanical engineer that graduated from MIT. He designed many of the mechanicals in modern windmills you see around the country. However, his company, German owned, decided that the USA wasn't serious about wind power. Once day he went out for lunch and when everyone came back there was a lock on the door, the place had gone out of business in the US and they were all laid off. These trees were very near his house. He paid a tree company some big bucks to take them down. I didn't ask how much, but they had a crane and all the crew there for a full day. Couldn't have been cheap. He's got an insert in the house, but it could use some updating. I'll take whatever he feels like giving me, but I'm limited to how much I can carry back to my house on my motorcycle trailer. Will make for numerous trips. I know, I could have worse problems.
I hear you there, Sav.......I am hoping out country wakes up and starts investing in our people and resources soon, before it's too late. We're definitely on the wrong path at the moment if you ask me.......
Yeah...I'm just wondering when the big companies are going to share their savings from the use of 3rd world slave labor...For example, wife bought me some zip-up sweaters from Jos A Bank on sale. The retail price was $119.50 per sweater. I figure they cost maybe a couple bucks per sweater for the manufacturing, so that's a whole lotta' profit for the company. If they are going to get rid of our jobs, we should at least share in some of the savings from nearly free labor. Back on point...that is a really nice score. I'm real happy for you. Probably do the right thing and help him split some of that and have heat. Without work, he'll need it.
He's a really good friend. I'd help him all day long and pay for my gas to get there and back and use my tools and if I didn't get anything out it, that would be okay too. It's nice that he wants to give me some, that's frosting on the cake. It'll be fun splitting with him and talking bikes all day long.
Well Oldhippie, have you made progress on the score of wood? Did you get some of that? And if so have you brought it home and processed it?
We cut and split just a bit of it, just to get ready for the after holiday effort. We got a lot of snow here and we both have holiday busyness to deal with. Pics when we have some fun.
