anyone thinking about flying Old Glory MUST read this first! Our Colors aren't "window dressing" its a Statement. if you wish to do it , I applaud and support your doing so, but PLEASE make sure you display Her correctly and respectfully.

Question, my flag at my previous home became frayed on the ends from wind. Is that disrespectful?

Not disrespectful, only if you leave it out for an extended period of time in that condition. The correct thought and procedure is; if our flag becomes "tattered, faded, ripped, torn or otherwise in not "clean or new" condition, it it time for replacement. Now, many people forget the basic do's and don'ts of the flag, and that doesn't make them un-patriotic, it's just edict and having attention to detail. I remind "several" people in my neighborhood and they like that.

WW, the best thing you can do is, do you best and pay attention. :)

when they get weathered its getting to be time to retire that flag and replace it, there's a thread going on proper retirement of the Colors. its IMHO up to the person flying Her to determine if She's weathered too much, its only disrespectful if the owner doesn't care.

Wyoming is hard on flags its as windy there as anywhere, so its not surprising that they get weathered pretty quickly. the advice I would give you is this.; flying the Colors is a decision that one makes similar to bringing another life into the house, it should not be made lightly. respect is personal, your treatment of the Flag is a reflection of how you would treat our troops, and/or your pride in the Nation the Flag represents.

like I said, its only disrespectful if you don't care, I believe you do so my answer to you is No it wasn't disrespectful.
