I went to run the 046 over the weekend and it leaned out on me. It was turning over 15k there for a moment. Going through the saw no lasting damage seems to have been done. I was really suspecting an air leak there for awhile, but started with the easy stuff. Went through the carb and when I pulled the H needle black bits blew out of the passages with carb cleaner. IE gasket material, so carb kit. But this saw has the Walbro HD 16 carb with the limiters. And instead of springs the needles have o-rings and I must confess I messed up the H needle o-ring. Problem is Walbro doesn't show the limiter option for this carb in the schematic on their website, just the HD 16 with springs. I can't figure out where to get the right o-rings for this carb. The L O-ring is stiff and deformed so I would replace both while I am at it. My google fu isn't doing it.

Guess I am gonna have to talk to a human because they are showing the same schematics. I looked at other carbs and they have breakouts with the two options but they could be different? I hate calling and asking about little stuff like this because I always get cluelessness and or people giving me guff. These walbros are expensive. A quick look the lowest hd 16 I could find was $80.

"You need to call Walbro" I called Walbro and am not holding my breath on a response.

Is the HD 16 with limiters a Stihl only carb.?

The zama and the copies of zama work fine even on ported saws. I tried one a few weeks back on my ported 046. They're about $20 on ebay.

I have a zama C3m on hand but I want to get this walbro working. Mostly due to the time I have spent at this point.

I don't blame you a bit. I'll look and see if I can find a carb kit with rings listed online. I think there used to be one.

Call walbro. I needed some not available parts for my 650 and I actually talked to a guy when I called their main office here. He actually sent me two of the part I needed and shipped them free no charge at all for them. Guy was nice and knew his stuff.

I have parts on order, but it will be a week or 10 days. So I tossed the rebuilt Zama I had in the saw and it tuned up nice and easy. So everything seems fine.

It is "Magnesium". The saw was good looking when I bought it except for the the clutch cover which had lost about 1/4 of its paint. I decided to strip it and clear coat it. I like how it came out very much. The saw is a "keeper" so I decided not to worry about resale and do what I liked. :)

A guy clear coated some parts on a 660 and blacked out others. Looks awesome.

Yep, And there are the guys that are getting parts dipped. I was pleased to see that someone on here had had a clutch cover dipped silver after I had done mine.

mdavlee do you have a link to that 660?
