Found this in my driveway when I came home tonight. A nice pile of red oak and beech rounds. The beech was obvious standing dead. I had to move it out of the driveway so it got put on pallets. Looks to be about a cord. I won't be able to get this split for a few weeks but I'm in no hurry. This should come up for burning in the fall of '18. Gathering wood has been pretty easy lately.

Awesome!:dex::dex::dex: Only down side is you can't do the fun part of bucking it up, vs. all the other labor to get it into firewood

Sweet and as far as not doing the bucking yourself think of it as an extra couple of hours to spend with the family. Either way it's a Win.

I think it is going to be real easy splitting. Nice rectangular bolts. Going by the apparence of the bark the grain looks to be straight and I don't see any hidden knots on the cut faces from trimming branches in years past. There are no crotches either. So hopefully there will be no knotty spiral splitting misery.

Nice looking rounds. Big enough to yield a lot but not total back breakers..

Good things come to those that wait long enough. Guess it was your turn. Think about your buddy when you are burning those rounds (after splitting) a few years from now and pass on the good that came to you.

yeah they have been cut to rounds and stacked but not split for over 18 months. so split them this weekend and put moisture meter to them. to see if they are 16/17 pile. Which if this year is like last turns into 16 February pile! still struggling get 2 years ahead! hoping new IS will cut me back from 12 cord to 5 a year. Then I am:thumbs:

I think that classic video of the bigfoot was clearer than your picture ... however, I can understand you must have been very excited :)

That's probably a little low. In a 2 cubic foot englander:wacky: I am hoping, the new IS cuts me back to 6 cord.... It is so hard to follow backwoods and everybody's advice and get 3 years ahead if that means having 50 cord outback! I got about 13 out back now in various stages but only 3 cord aged over 20 months... :headbang:

    I need more.. More MORE!!:dex:
