It's just on the u connect Chrysler products. There's an update to fix it, but yeah, it's a little scary.
Which will last....how long? Our ex-SIL had a GPS in any car he had. Only 4 directions you can travel up here to get somewhere.......N, S, E, or W. Get on M-32 and head E, you hit Alpena. Go the opposite direction, you hit Gaylord. How hard could it be (it's not, I've done it)? He turned that stupid thing on EVERY time he got in the car to go either direction. With voice prompts. WTH? "Stay straight for the next 32 miles". Nav systems can be helpful in an unfamiliar area, but going to places you frequent......well, just say no. Manufacturers should hire hackers to design this stuff. Doubt it'll help long-term. I'll stop now.
Cybersecurity, is way behind hackers skills and will likely be for a long time , sad and upsetting but true.
It seems that there are always people who want to hack into everything. To what end, I don't even what to think about it. Finding systems that cannot be violated seems to be a common problem. Perhaps there needs to be a cover that doesn't allow signals to access they system. Don't really know, however I would hope for some way to enforce laws against cyber intrusions.
I would pay extra for a vehicle without technology, like my old '69 Chevelle. 6 cylinders and a 3 speed column shift. Not going to happen though.
First time I used my GPS up that way it had no idea where I was going. It yelled at me for not hanging a left to go to 75 south of Gaylord, but started to shut up on county road 38, probably because it didn't have that road in its maps. I lost count of how many times it said 'recalculating'. It got really mad at me and tried to recalculate again when I hung a left on Reiman Rd to bypass downtown Atlanta on my way to M33. I shut it off after that because it was still trying to recalculate the route. I think it wanted me to take M-32 to Alpena then head up 23, which would have been quite a bit out of my way. I haven't used that GPS in about three years. Google maps on my phone does a decent job if I get too lost.
Not sure where you are up there as mailing addresses paint a pretty broad brush. My place is 14 miles from the town that has my mailing address. Down around Grand Rapids, there could be two or three post offices/towns crammed in that space. I go through there every couple weeks this time of year. It's three miles farther going that way, but the scenery is nicer and traffic is a lot lower, especially on Friday afternoons. My wife likes interstates and highways. I prefer two lane roads. Next time I pass through I could toss a split out the window with FHC on it. Kind of a 'member was here' calling card.
If I left a split on Reimann, it'd probably be gone before you got here. I could post my address, but then I'd need to use my little memory killer on everyone.....like in "Men in Black".
