    I'm not saying EVERY child of a divorce suffers overtly, but on a spiritual level (mostly unseen anyway) it is not the natural way of a child's upbringing to suffer a splitting of the parents. It's simply not in a kid's processing ability to do anything other than cope, no matter how they cope. Just my .02 cents.
    As a side note- my folks probably should have gotten divorced when we were kids! They treated each other and my brother and I horribly. My brother and I revolted when we hit the teen years, and held grudges for some time after that-
    I eventually got past it, my brother straight up disowned the entire family!
    But, I digress...
