Nope not a bit. Gly has been proven safe for use. Almost all grain or vegetables you buy comes off ground that has been prepped with Gly

Also I know guys who spray ROWs and herbicide for a living. They take the precautions. But have 1,000,000x the exposure to it you do. They have no mammary, kidney or other tumors they say those rats got.

Now I am not saying in the future problems from it may not show up. I try not to get in it or play in it though. I am talking around my fences and flower beds.

I am definitely not wanting a Monsanto/GMO war here. Just saying what I do. I dont worry that much about it honestly. I think there worse things in this world than that. I dont love herbicide use everywhere all the time just that they have their place.

I use a healthy amount of gly, on my driveways and when I prep my food plots. I try not to swim in it, but I am surrounded my hundreds of acres of corn that the farmers treat when they no-till plant it. I figured that will get me if any thing will!

I use a small Echo string trimmer on the grass/small weeds, and I use the 336 on the brush. I just leave the blade on it all the time. It has a string head, but it is scary to run! It throws stuff everywhere, and I usually get smacked in the face and arms by all the flying debris, which really sucks!

I have an old echo that I paid $50 for that was retired from a landscaper freind. I have used it for like 5 years and rebuilt the carb once and it keeps going.

Its very cold natured but after a 45 seconds or so its ready to go and runs flawless.

I run Carhartt bibs and a full face respirator (really crappy alergies/sinuses). I've had welts on my sides the times I haven't worn a shirt under the bibs and usually have a cold one in an ADK chair to let the stuff dry enough to be brushed off before it ends up clogging the shower drain. I usually start at the top of the tall stuff and go down instead of just running along the ground. It probably makes it worse but leaves less of a mess.

Yep, boots and pants are a must for me while trimming. Safety glasses and muffs too. For the thick stuff I don the arborist gear with the helmet and mesh fash shield. No need to "lose an eye" busting some brush.

I find the task oddly satisfying. Maybe I've been hit in the head one too many times by flying rocks?

I hated them too until I got the Echo. Now I wish I hadn't been impulsive when I bought the biggest one they had in stock that day because I'm only in kinda like with my current one and thinking 28cc over my 23cc might be the cure. Went through the same process with tractors, lawn mowers and chain saws too. Funny thing is I ended up with 20 yo+ examples of them that make me very happy. They will all likely outlive me too.

I feel the same way but it will take a lot of fill and landscaping before everything I maintain can be mowed from the cab.

I usually say that too Clem... about a minute before I pick up the Husky and do battle with the weeds. Then... when I'm done, sittin on the deck lookin' at my work, I love that weed eater! About an hour or so later, when the usual back pain hits... I hate that damm thing... it's a love hate relationship right there... ;):D

I always that the power head resting on my right forearm. I guess to help with leverage. After 30-60mins of it I end up with a blister from the heat. Its not so hot that it instantly burn or even hurts as I am doing it but I guess over the period it cooks my skin. Similar to a really bad sun burn and I get those puss blisters. I am conscious now to not rest my forearm on the power head now. Thus is the bigger straight shaft echo I am talking about. Usually get it when I weed eat the 2 acre yard and ditch at the farm.

About that echo. I dont actually think I have ever replaces the plug on it since I got it used. I may have regapped it but thats it!! Usually fires after a few pulls is all.

Did 800 feet of ditch today at my brother's property, and the parts of his half acre pond dam that are too steep to mow. I wear shorts, but have some chaps that go from my feet to above my knees. I had my ear muffs, face shield, boots and gloves on. Looked good when I finished, but I am a little tired now.

Even if you can mow everything from the cab, you still will want to do light clean-up and edging with a trimmer. Nothing makes your beds and walks look better than turning the whipper-snipper 90 deg and cutting nice clean edges. Fastest way I know to remove weeds and moss build-up from in-between stones and concrete slabs too.

And as far as string trimmers with brass ones go....

This is pretty much the big kid on the block. Bigger than these and it's a clearing saw, not a trimmer.

I just got done weed whacking the yard. I found out that my ryobi is out of adjustment on the choke.

Turn the choke half on, and it revs better. Choke off all the way per the lever, and its doggy.

    I'll have to adjust it.

I wear my chainsaw chaps over shorts, and always wear my Oakley's. It throws stuff all over the place.

My parent's have a 2 stroke stihl weed wacker, and honestly, this ryobi has enough power to turn all the attachments you can get for it.
