It took longer to clear the trail then it did to cut the tree, I also grabbed a small downed Ironwood. The first three pics are the Cherry we took down a few weeks ago with the winch.
The first picture is what I brought home today and the second picture is that big downed Sugar Maple, I have about 20 minutes of clearing trail and I can get my arse going on that tree.
Nice woods right there Zap... green canopy gives you some shade... wood in the trailer looks good too.
Thanks Stinny, the shade felt great. I had the fawn around today with Ma so I dropped some food for them. The Maple was damaged so I dropped it.
This dead Cherry will come down in the fall, it will make the trail easier to run once it's gone, the 2nd picture is the base of the tree.

I'm not sure on the amount this spring/summer, I took the whole month of June off and any of the wood I c/s isn't stacked. Just a guess, about 4-5 NY F/C. The time that was set aside for cutting some of the big downed Cherry never happened, my father was in the hospital for two weeks so the wood cutting was put on the back burner.
This is the year I'm shutting down our embroidery business (29 years) so come the end of September I'll have plenty of free time. We started has a quick print shop, envelopes, letterhead, etc.
I've got a bunch of sugar maple that looks like that inside. It's still good. But use it this year, I know I will use mine so it doesn't go bad. I have at least another 1/2 cord of it I need to get css'd this fall. Then I can work on the stuff for the following years.
Starting tomorrow, I'll start stacking all the piles I have laying around, we have some soft maple and sugar maple. After I get the maple stacked, I'll be putting up some nice beech c/s this spring and then it will be some cherry I c/s this spring. The first two pics are of the maple I brought out yesterday and split this afternoon. We did get out in the boat for three hours but I left the camera and my phone in the garage.
Pretty wood lot. In some of your pictures I see clear sky so I know some light is getting in. How do you get rid of all the grapevine, PI, seedling trees, berry canes, etc.? Even in the densest part of my wooded acres there is at least a seedling tree every 5 or 10 feet in every direction.
Those pictures are from around the house, most of the woods won't get enough sun to the floor because of the big white pines but on the northside where we lost some trees the berries really grow good, we just leave what grows so the wildlife can use it for food.
I almost forgot about the birch back in the small gully, down at the other end another pile of old sugar maple.
Good job! We spent 8 hours in the boat on the lake today, so nothing got done besides our tans getting better and us having a tired dog tomorrow.
