Hottest day of the year here with a heat index of 105. Power went off 30 minutes ago with no eta. :( I really need to invest in a portable generator. The power grid seems to be getting less stable around here over the past year or so.

Appreciate the thought, brother! No power grid worries this winter with the IS coming on the scene for sure. We had an outage last winter when we had that 0 degree blast. I finally realized then I should not be so dependent on others for the basics of life. Working on changing that.

that's why got generator. I mean it's 74 here right now. now storms in winter that knock out power with baseboard hot water as backup. below freezing and water in pipes not a good combination!

I used to like the winter but now I hate everything about it. One of the things I miss the most during the winter is the lack of colour. picture 085.jpg picture 086.jpg Picture 163.jpg

Thanks. My wife built that all by herself. Brought all the stone in with her truck from a mile or so away and cemented it all on the inside for strength.
My contribution was to paint the old plow after I was done using it and the wagon wheel.
    And moral support of course.

I hear you there, more than one time skunk smell woke me up in the middle of the night, but one time was so close, so bad, I had to move out of that room for the rest of the night:bug::hair:
There is a lot of skunks around here, but so far this year I haven't had to close the house up in the middle of the night yet:thumbs:

Same here, and at my previous home. There we had a skunk get snapped by a rat trap we had in the crawl space below the house. Wow, the home, our hair, our clothes, the carpet, took several weeks and washing/steaming EVERYTHING. I threatened to go to a hotel but did not. I have no doubt that was the same skunk that got my very old brittany on her muzzle point blank. Her muzzle was literally green from the spray. Nasty, killed my sense of smell for awhile.

It did not die....He sprayed down there, we woke up from the stench, hubby opened the door and he ran out with trap still attached. The stench however......remained......

I have not been told nor do I want to know the details. I had to go out of town the next week for a business trip. I returned home to find the 1920's trap gone off the wall in hubby's office, and evidence of a stakeout on the deck with him and the dogs while I was gone.

Nothing worse than a close up smell of skunk, my dogs got in a fight with one in the garage, my wife made me strip before I came into the house and take a shower and I still smelled and I didn't take a direct hit, I was just close by, the garage smelled for a month, the dogs longer.
