Between Guido Salvage AND Well Seasoned , those 2 dogs are enough to make me seriously consider taking in another pup. I got Bentley at 1.5 yo so I missed all the cute puppy stuff with him.

Seriously jealous you 2. Beautiful animals.

And the obligitory pic. He's just chilling watching cars go by. The saw just happened to be sitting there. It's not staged lol.

I'm very partial toward labs. He looks a lot like my Molly did around that age. upload_2015-7-22_19-26-16.png

You know, there's usually some good looking women working/ volunteering at humane societies. There could be a perk for you helping the four legged critters.

    Me too
Labs only for me...although a Bernese Mountain dog would be cute too
I like large breeds...60-80 pounds is enough
our first lab was 110 pounds, Ruger might be that big too...IDK, we'll see, 11 months and still growing

We got our second pup when Max was two. Max trained her well and they became quite the pair. Tragedy stuck when Mazey passed at age three. Blout we think. Max was heartbroken without his buddy. We bought little Molly home. Max was a bit stand offish at first. But the female pup would have none of being left alone. He knew the ropes and took her under his wing for training. Now best buds as you see in my Avatar

savemoney that exactly what I'm looking for. I'm a lab owner until I die.

Bentley is 4. How old is too old for the old dog to still pass it on in the lab world?

I have had very old dogs around puppies. Yep, they were standoffish at first as well. All of them regardless of sex or breed ended up training the new pup. The older ones were very good at teaching the pups manners too

We did wait too long on the last hunting pup though. The star hunting brittany was getting too worn out to hunt like she used to, so the pup was not able to learn from her like we had hoped. She was 12 when we brought the pup home. Maternal as can be, but her poor little body could not run the fields like she used too.

We're lab folks too. Our Farley was over 10 when we got Badger.

Now, Farley was as laid back as an English lab could be. Badger has some English in him, but he's an American lab, and he has master hunter bloodlines. So, needless to say, they were yin and yang.

But, a little after a year since Farley passed, I see some of Farley in Badger.

Its almost never too late, they will pick up things from their older companions.

We're about to find out if we get to get a pup from the litter that was born on June 19th. We'll know by this weekend.

    Keep your fingers crossed.....

My experience is that with two, the dogs are better mannered. They eat better, are more active and keep each other entertained when you are away. One is fine if that is what your life style is, but unless you have kids at home, you will need to pay more attention to the one and more sure it is socialized otherwise he may run into problems like dog fights, or not tolerating kids, or chewing up the furniture and other neurotic behaviors.

Two is good but three is better and according to DaveGunter five is the best. Our three are an amazing team but it does restrict some of our activities and areas where we can go.

Anyone looking for a rat terrier? I know of a breeder who has to downsize the amount of dogs she has. Her dogs are awesome.
