There is a restaurant on the north end of St. Ignace by the airport, forgot what it was called, but they used to have a great seafood buffet on Friday nights and prime rib on Saturday nights. We'd go there every year during the car show. Granted, this was in the late 90's last time I ate there, so it may have changed names and menus since. I've got a place about 40 minutes southeast of Mackinac City, so I didn't stay in town this year.

Lake Huron was about 65 degrees when I wandered out in it around 4:00 this afternoon. Not too bad considering it's only mid July. :)

St Ignace is reporting 70 today with water temperature below that! Great for relaxing especially if you've been sweating in the heat that is further south.

I did notice one of the buoys out in Lake Superior is reporting a water temperature of 38 degrees. Anyone care for a swim?

Right where I want to be.
Wife and I went to the UP on our honeymoon. When we stuck our feet in the water, they came out red from the cold.
    Does Superior ever get "warm"?

Tried to snap so pictures of wood today..lol.. The first one was a massive log yard just east of manistique. It even had its own rail yard. The second was a guy just outside of town that had a firewood business. Neither picture did justice for the size of the operation. I didn't get a pic but there was a house getting a Michigan truck and trailer load dropped in his driveway too. 20150721_155819.jpg 20150721_161552.jpg

I was up there the week after the 4th of July, we stayed in St. Ignace most of the time, love that town. We always stay at the Bay View motel on the north end of town, where did you stay? The lake was 59° and my son had no problem swimming in it, me on the other hand only stuck my toes in it.

    In one word....no. :)

I've been up to Duluth, Superior and Ashland many many times over the years. Swam with the kids throughout the summer in each place. Love Wisconsin point, jumping off the ore dock in Ashland and climbing into the water by the canal in Duluth. Great fun!

In August it gets "less cold" but never warm. :)

That sounds like the name, either that or Driftwood. Too bad, as they had darn good food there.

The Driftwood is back closer to downtown, we ate there 3 times while we were there. They have the best Potato soup around.

Well we made it home in 11.5 hours today. Pretty decent trip till we got jammed up on the Ohio turnpike near Elyria due to a crash - I didn't realize how bad the construction was on that road this year. It's ridiculous. That was our best vacation and plans are being made already to head back up. We're gonna stay on the western side next time.
