I live a half mile from the Verizon wireless music center. 50,000 drunks all camping tonight. Dave Matthews is in town for 2 nights. Traffic blows.

 

Dave Matthews! I saw him in Ottawa years ago. Good show.

 

One of the best drummers currently still touring imo.
But traffic still blows.

 

Ugh. It's been so long since I have been to a concert.

 

I had no idea that the Dave Matthews Band was so large!

 

Caffeine going down while sitting on the porch listening to a whole lot of birds singing and making other noises. Nothing like living in the trees.

 

Just picked 30 ears of corn for a party today. Good eatin.

 

Oh man. We had corn on the cob soaked in water and then roasted on the grill last weekend. That was great. We were at the parents house in the city so no fire to cook it over. But we use to cook over the fire at camp when we had large get together a back there. We have not cooked corn like that in a while.

 

Not sure how this well get cooked today. I'm not the chef. We're bringing corn, chickens, apple bread, and apple cookies.

 

Last night we had our first pool play game in a softball tournament for 12U girls. They did a great job, but lost in the end. Didn't walk through the door until 10:30.

Now I'm up, need coffee, pack the canopy, chairs and the cooler for two more games today. First game is at 11:15 and it takes an hour to get there. Sunday is bracket play. We'll have one game. If we win, we keep playing. Looking forward to the games, but it's always a long weekend.

One good note is that we are not in our town. This weekend is the Hot Air Balloon Festival, and traffic is going to stink.

Monday we start the state tournament. It runs from Sunday to the following Monday. Then we are done until tryouts in August and when we start practice for the fall.

 

Just pruned my tomatoes. They are losing leaves like crazy. Not sure if it's all the rain or blight. Every plant except the cherry tomatoes look terrible.

Dropping a weeping cherry for the neighbors this afternoon. High temp 95. Fun times...at least it's small.

 

Too much rain?

 

Made peanut butter bars for my father in law. Pulled off a "few" deck boards to replace . It started with 2...now I'm up to 10 Bought supplies to put up a gutter, trimmed some trees where I process, and moved and restacked one of my wood racks at my house.

Now its time to get a couple loads of branches to the tree dump so I came unload my apple/crabapple from last weekend!

 

Never grilled corn....does soaking help a lot?

 

Yes. Like 3x the normal amount.

 

If you can get your hands on one of those 2 part clam steamers you gotta try that. Stand the ears vertical and let the steam up thru from the bottom section. Awesome.........................

 

We're Having a party today for my teenagers and friends. Shaving cream war and a big hillbilly slip n slide made out of plastic sheeting. Man I love summer.
