It was slowing the 661 down. They were doubting redbull660 tests but it was proven at a gtg that the belray at 32:1 was 10-15% slower than 45:1. Just too thick to run correct.
I read the first few pages of posts and the results or Red bull on AS. Not the whole thing cause it was like 500+ pages on tapatalk app!!! I didnt believe it either when I read it there were some good theories but he was in biased and was a goof test.
That was one of the other oils he recommended but no one around here sells it. Wow I think I unintentionally opened up Pandoras box lol
Very nice! I love my 046 Randy did. I think the gist is run a quality oil at 40-1 to 32-1 and you will be fine. I am running Belray but was likely going to change to K2 when I ran out. Another good investment; if you don't already have one, is a good tachometer.
I agree about the oil needing to be a good quality and mixed higher than 50:1. The thing I liked about the yamalube is I can get it locally and don't need to worry about ordering online. I have been looking at tachometers for a while and need to order a decent one for sure
Man that saw still looks so pretty! I think some oils are just too heavy at 32:1 to make max power . Sure isn't hurting the motor any however. I'd be curious to see real dyno testing on oil mix ratios. But then what would we argue about? I've been running AMSOIL Dominator at 40:1 but you won't find that on the shelf unless a local power sports shop carries it. I tried a batch at 32:1, it think it was getting a little thick to pour at that point, lol.
How does the Dominator smell? I tried a quart of Interceptor and it just tore up my nose. I only got through a couple of gallons of mix before I had to quit and give it away. That's what I like about H1R, I basically can't smell it at all.
I've been running e free 92 in my saws. Just using the stihl packs that came with 2 of my saws. I mix 5 gallons at a time but only add 4.5 gallons to compensate for what's left in the bottle. Should I drop that to about 4 gallons so I'm closer to 40-1 with stock saws?
New (last 5+ years) stock saws run 50:1 just fine says my local small engine mechanic. That's what I run in my stock (Stihl MS361, Stihl MS251 and Jred 2139T) saws and don't have any problems. Don't over think it.
Every time this comes up,......I say its whatever makes a fella sleep good at night ! Quality gas and oil are a must. Along with the proper carb tune and regular maintenance.
I made the swap to BēNOL as well. Smells good Smells like the Castor 927 we burned in our bikes back in the day! Nice saw brother! That is one heck of a saw now!!
I'm not sensitive to any of it really. To me the Dominator smells very neutral. But then again so does the Interceptor and Sabre Pro. I hate that Interceptor is chit brown colored. Sabre is bright blue, Dominator is bright red, they couldn't have gone with purple or green? Orange? Anything but brown? Lol. It's not my first choice for air-cooled 2-strokes anyways. It's meant more for liquid cooled bikes and ATVs with injection systems. It's not injection only, but that is its intended application.
I been running it at 32:1 in everything. Smells like two stroke too me??? Doesnt burn my eyes like marine two stroke or the husky XP oil I use to use though
