Its finally back from an attitude adjustment! Now I just need some dry weather and a few trees to test it out on. I rolled it over slowly a few times and can definitely tell the compression is higher now. I can't wait to sink this thing into some oak.

Quick question for those of you with a saw from mastermind, what 2 stroke oil and mixture ratio are you using? On his reccomendation I was going to pick up Yamalube 2R and go with 32:1.

I've been running Non Ethanol 88, and Shindaiwa Red Armor at 40:1 in all of my two cycle OPE. I have four "ported" saws (two by Randy Evans, and two by Randy Dunlap), along with about a dozen non moddified saws.
Most of my "other" saws are a little more towards the vintage era, so 40:1 seems like a good compromise for all equipment.

I've got more ported saws than anyone should have, and I run BelRay H-1R @ 32:1 in all of them. Heck, I run the same fuel in my stock saws, string trimmer, brush cutter, leaf blower, etc... and I haven't had any problems.

Great saw! I have a MMWS MS461 and I just spent about 1.5 hrs noodling big red oak rounds. :dex: It runs Belray H1R at 32:1 just fine. I had some issues with this mix on another saw (m-tronic), so I got to talking to Randy. He told me he's gone to back Yamalube 2R, especially for the AT/m-tronics, so I'm in the process of trying this out right now. In the end, any good oil mixed 32-40:1 should be just fine for you. Don't overthink it.

Hmmm. I wonder what the "issues" are? I have a Mastermind MS661, but haven't put much fuel through it yet... I'll have to ask Randy about it next time I get him on the phone.

I use the manufacturer stuff - Stihl or Husqy, whichever is cheap or convenient at the time. I run 40:1 in everything, unless I'm milling, then I use 25:1. I've put a whole lot of tanks through my Mastermind MS660, and its still a monster. I can't compare over the long term though, so the expensive stuff might be better; I'm no expert.

[EDIT] I get non-ethanol gas from the station around the corner.

Oh I trust Randy on what to use. I was just interested in what others were using and how you were getting along with it. I made a detour on the way home today and picked up 2 quarts of Yamalube 2R and will get some mix made up here in the day or two. I was running Stihl synthetic at 32:1 in my ported Husky 555 but will go ahead and switch it over to the Yamalube also to keep it simple.

This will not become a 311-page and counting "oil" thread:loco:  Sorry for the minor derail:zip:
Once again, congratulations on a awesome saw. I'm sure the Yamalube will work just fine.

No but I didn't ask either..... I was planning on just running high test as usual since I only mix a gallon or so at a time and its not sitting around.

Run 32:1 with any good oil and fresh gas and rune accordingly and the saw will live. I'm liking K2 about the beat of any oil out there. Super M is another good choice and it's not as expensive as some of the others.
