Timber Tuff Bench Pro un boxing / Pics

Well we went and got the Timber Tuff today and this is how far I have gotten. As I assemble it and fire it up tonight I hope I will be sure to add more pics and explanations. It was a total of $153 after tax at tsc.

First the opening the box is very sturdy Ok seriously that's a good sign usually.



Then you get to look inside and see the beast. It is very solid and the frame is all metal! ( surprising ) the shield and adjustment knobs are plastic and feel sturdy as well.

O the SUSPENSE

 

So I have it assembled and it was pretty easy. The directions are completely and utterly useless! The manual was not accurate and had a few steps that didn't exist so I tossed it aside and went by the picture on the box.

Here is what accessories where in the box.
1) A shaping stone That was unexpected!
2) Tooth, depth, file and grinding wheel gauge all in one.
3) 3 grinding wheels 5-11/16 * 7/8 * 1/8 as well as 5-11/16 * 7/8 * 3/16 and a 5-11/16 * 7/8 * 1/4.
They look like decent pink stone wheels although I will probably invest in diamond at some point.



Next I assembled the two halves of the unit. The two halves need to lineup so there is a set whole on the bottom and a pin on the other two line them up.



The motor is very heavy and feels like good quality but does make it a bit awkward to put together. You need to hold the bolt with one hand and put the black plastic knob on with the other hand.




Next is the plastic shield be aware the wholes do not line up well. It takes a little umph to get the top bolt in.....



The bottom bolt is easy and went right in for me.

 

Lastly I put the handle on the front. It went right in no problem at all.




Here is the finished assembly.



Tonight I will get it fired up and sharpen a bunch of my chains with pics and probably some video too.

 

Well I am gonna go mount the grinder to the bench and fire up my propane torch in the garage. Nothing like being warm and playing with chain tangles. I'll try to make a video once I figure out what the heck I am doing.

 

I got it at tractor supply.

 

Ok here is some video bare in mind I haven't had any real experience with it so it's probably set deep. There is no side to side play at all in the neck and the holder is very strong which means no chain movement of any kind either. Overall for $153 I am very impressed!

 

Looks good Pete! Digging the lime green paint too.. If you get good at it you could sharpen chains for others and the tool will pay for itself quickly!

That's actually the plan Ray! I want some good practice time first though. My intention is to make some money on the side with it starting next summer as I get better with it.

 

O ya and I paid more for the lime green! The northern tool grinder looks identical to this but is red YICK. The northern one is $109 right now.

 

Congrats. I love my Timber Tuff. For the money, it's hard to beat.

 

We'll 6 chains last night and all razor sharp! This thing works great... I'll post a video of my saw cutting and wood chips later on today for you guys. It is hands down the best and cleanest I have ever sharpened a chain.

 

Pete, when are you accepting chains, and what's your turn around time? Looking good

 

I need more practice WS for sure but at this rate soon. That sharpener is dummy proof! I have never ever sharpened a chain so well it's like there brand new sharp.

all in time I am taking it slow right now. I can say it isn't gonna take much practice to get it down with this grinder it's awesome. I am also going to get an LLC first before I do any for profit. I will however do some chains from you guys for free to get practice!!!
