Well I got the entire log load on my trailer from last week bucked today but it was a frustrating process. Started with the small stuff and about 2 cuts in my little 251 seemed sluggish and the bar was hot. The sprocket will make a half turn with the tip of a finger then it binds so I figured the sprocket is bent and it looks like it is. Busted out the 036 and the throttle linkage promptly broke..lol.. At this point I'm seriously about 5 cuts in. I really wanted to get it all done so the 461 was used the rest of the day. It kicked my arse running it for such an extended period but it was kinda fun cutting 6" branches with it..lol.. By time I got to the bigger stuff I was whooped but it just kept going. Basically everything in the picture was cut with the 461 except for probably 5 or 6 rounds. The stuff in the stack is waiting for hydraulics. Good thing I have 3 saws now..lol.. I'll never go cut without it again..lol.. Probably had about 6" of chips on the wagon before I shoveled it off. Gonna take it down the side road tomorrow to blow it off..
Hackberry. It's miserable to split but the people I've talked to that burn say it's similar to ash. The darker stuff is apple..
Seems to grow like weed along fence lines here like black locust and mulberry. Just not quite as high for btu's and it's not splitting by hand.. Bad picture with the light but it's the tall one mixed in with the locust and mulberry.
I hear you on that one.... Every time i run one of my big saws for a day i know it the following day.
Honestly not sure the actual weight - PHO is 14.6. It's heavy and awkward when trying to cut stuff that small. Rips through it though..lol..
Well you got the job done anyway get your other Saws fixed up and get you a little limber and you will be all set
Dang - sorry to hear about the 036 breaking - hopefully it's a cheap fix? You know, a sawbuck could help keep those logs from moving around on ya while you're cutting em - just saying... I've been thinking about an improvement I'd like to make to mine - might be a couple weeks but lets see if I can come up with something...
Wow...whats that old saying "third times a charm"? Glad it you got it done. Hackberry is decent stuff, yes a bit stringy...
Yeah I'll take it hopefully this week. No biggie. My sawbuck yesterday was my trailer..lol.. used logs to pin other ones down to cut them. Actually worked well.
Gonna try to get most of it split and stacked today which will complete my 16/17 stack. Took 2 loads over already and some of this will end up in the 17/18 by time I'm done.. Then I will drink beer..
