Finally, a legitimate online "cable" company. Test driving their 7 day trial on Roku. ESPN, ESPN2, Disney, Family, Food Network, CNN, travel, TNT, TBS, Cartoon for $20 a month, they are supposed to be adding AMC and BBC America soon.
Don't have cable or Roku. I just put up a new HD antenna a few weeks ago. We have been waiting for something like this.
Runs pretty good from what I can tell, watching king of the hill. Roku is the only set top box that has it, so don't grab an Apple TV, chrome cast, or fire tv. You can also watch it on computer, but PITA...
You still enjoying sling tv Grizzly Adam We're looking into it and planning to ditch our satellite provider soon.
How did yo manage to convince your provider to run a hard line to you? I have begged and pleaded with Comcast to run internet to me and have been shut down on 4 different occasions
Our entire town was just wired by Time Warner, I am 800' off the road. I came home the other night and there were white flags from the road to my house with a note on the door saying that's where they want to bury the cable. A rep stopped by later that evening and asked if that was ok, I said yes. There is no cost for me and I don't even have to get any service when it's done. I wonder if there was a grant involved?
We are 1.2 miles from the nearest connection point. Rep keeps telling me their max is 1 mile, that if I want service I'll have to pay too run it to my house...... I'll be d@mned if I'm gonna pay to run a utility to my house just so they can charge me a monthly connection fee, but I really want a faster and unlimited connection than my home fusion from Verizon wireless. Sorry, rant over
Verizon is costing us $110 per month for 15 GB. I don't know how much TW will charge, but 15 GB is nothing. We can't believe we are getting it considering how rural our town is.
We are paying 60 or 70 a month for 10gb , we just got rid of directv, so tv time in our house consists of dvd or recorded shows on the dvr before we cancelled
Sounds good Griz. I recently dropped my local phone packaged with Dish and DSL to switch to the TWC "Triple play" they have been advertising lately. Very happy so far and I'm getting almost 35 GB with their "30 GB" package. The Roku is next.
I just dropped Direct TV and went back to TW. Have their whole house pk. The phone is exceptional. my wife is watching Netflix, I have Amazon streaming, and I am surfing the web all at once. Not bad. Way too many channels on the TV. I am sharing it with my son so we split the cost. Have the DVR that can record 6 shows at once and I can view my line up on any device.
We have been getting along good with Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime. Sometimes the wife pines for network channels that have shows she likes to watch. But she hates that monthly bill even more than I do so the complaints are short lived.
I recommend it with Roku 3 or newer. I like mindless TV watching now and then, Netflix requires me knowing what I want to watch.
