All fresh splits on the larger pieces were 20-22% with 3-4 months of drying still left! All this was cut spring of 2014 dead standing and most were trunk sections that were soaked. (Used the limbs off the main trunk last winter. Looks like I'll have the "truly seasoned wood" for my second year of burning. The hard work payed off, I'm stoked to join the real hoarders/burners! Have 10 more cords drying for the next 3 years.

Glad you have good news, the work has paid off. Regardless of the MC, your a true hoarder just doing what you do, the dry seasoned wood is the end result of the process. Pictures?

I had bad results with my mm test on some oak. It was cut and split over the summer of 14 and is still reading in the 30's. Luckily it was already planned as 16/17 wood so it has another year. That result sent me into a tailspin of madness that resulted in another saw plus a good load of logs on my trailer and a new stacking area. Other than some silver, it's all 17/18 wood along with some black locust and red oak that I stacked a while back.

Great job Sconnie Burner ! I should be right there with you around 10 cords by mid august. It does feel good!

What was the time of year and condition (live or standing dead) of it when you cut it, Drvn?

I wasn't the one that cut it. He had a massive pile of rounds from 3 trees in his yard that I pulled from. This is the load in picture. It dates 9/27/2014 so it was a little later than I thought. He said the trees only leafed out about half that year so he had them dropped.

It only got started last fall. Hasn't even had a full summer. But don't fret, that wood will be bone dry after next summer if you keep the rain off it.

If it keeps raining sideways around here every day that stuff will be dry in about 10 more years:rofl: .. This has been a brutal summer so far for drying.

I'll snap a few photos tonight. I have decent wind and sun where I have it stacked. The rest of the wood is out at my parents place with excellent wind and good sun.
