I took a video while driving out around the yard, but I'd have to put that on YouTube to link it.

Going to do some high speed wood hauling and morel hunting tomorrow. Maybe there will be action shots.

Oh yeah, maybe some antique log splitter action.

Does that do anything for you Eric VW ?:emb::binoculars:

I think the headlights are the same from a 220. Yeah, I'm amazed he had the clips for the trunk.

I found my "new" trailer to haul wood out from my woods behind the atv.

I'll have to put sides on it, and get it from the cottage to the land where I cut wood on. IMG_20150705_122628754_HDR.jpg

This should hold a few rounds, and its solid enough to do all I will ask of it. Iirc, those are 15" wheels.

My old honda 300trx has a shift pattern just like yours. It has a lockout on it though.

I missed this post months ago??

My deal on my atv is that my battery died. I was just bragging that it was like 3-4 years old no problem. My son and I went on a ride across town got to the farmers house we went to go see. On the way there I was thinking of how old that battery was. I even started it with electric start on the way there twice once then I cut it off to go chase him down to get him up there with me (18 months old) then started it again when we were on it. Rode the mile across town. Shut off and talked a few mins then nothing from started. Just a few split second attempts for the started to try. Good thing these old ones have a kick start. Just a kick and we were running again.

Try that on a newer polaris 500/600 or something. Do the new hondas even have a manual start?

clemsonfor , the kawi had a lockout for the reverse, but it's been disabled. Apparently most are disabled since it's a hindrance once you get used to the lockout being taken off. This kawi has a pull start, with decompression release.

When we bought our 04 sportsman 500 HO, the 600 and 700 twins were available, but neither had a recoil backup starter. The 500 did, and still does on new ones.

I just checked Honda's site. Recoil is standard on the recon and rincon, the least and most expensive utilities they sell, but recoil is optional on the foreman, ranchers and rubicons- the bulk of their utility quad sales.

That seems odd, but that what their site says.

Lot's of the newer big 4x4's have a recoil (pull) start. Have you ever tried to start on that way, especially from a cold start? Just grab the handle and give 'er a yank. Go ahead, I'll wait. ;)

Our 500 HO pulls over easier than my old 300 bayou both by pulling on the recoil starter vs the thumb starter. Idk if the sportsman has an auto decompression vs the decompression that you have to manually hit on the kawi.

Every one of them I've tried starts fairly easy with the recoil but not if you just grab and pull. I pull them up to compression and give it a swift tug over. Usually fires first/second time. Grab and pull usually results in a sore shoulder or punching yourself in the gut.:picard:

Yes, there's definitely a method to manually starting a 4 stroke, especially a big single cylinder. I cut my teeth on my old xl600r kickstart only with a decompression device that didn't work. Nobody was going to start that bike but me, or someone that really knew what they were doing.
