What is not to like about cute puppy pictures. I am sure Saucy will have a great time with her new companion.
They will become the best of buds. My Lab mix was hesitant of our first Chihuahua scared almost, but they became inseparable. A male Chihuahua will be dominant until he realizes the big female is his girlfriend
Is Saucy a Rat Terrier? When our chesapeake shed her puppy fur, she grew a coat of curly fur and looked like a giant teddy bear.
basod -there has certainly been some mounting attempts. She won't have it though and pushed/nips him away. Norky -Saucy is a purebred Chihuahua, and today after swimming in the creek, Maple showed some fur curl, but not much rottiman-
Yeah Saucy is a larger male - they stay muscular and quite dominant without having a "jenner" The male we had, Mickey(blue eyes), wouldn't back down from anything, or should I say would try to mount a 125lb German shepard
"Yeah Saucy is a larger male - they stay muscular and quite dominant without having a "jenner"" ... Oh great! Now Jenner is Self-Identifying as a Chiwawa...
We're having his junk removed Wednesday. That decision was made before we decided on another pup, because Saucy is now of age. The vet will make sure all baby teeth have come out already (which they should have), but sometimes the baby teeth get wedged in, not allowing the adult teeth to come through. Simple procedure, but we'll worry none the less.
He's muscular and will run off after whatever he fancies and will encounter much bigger males - best to get it done, glad you waited till he matured - far too many pups are clipped before they have reached their prime development, results in dainty little dogs that can barely jump off a couch
There is a step in the "Jenner" - and it ain't changing over, just removal. Dogs just wander around and lick the wound later forgetting where those things went. The rest of the process never goes through and he still likes him a female, courts her, grooms her, protects her. Just don't make you a litter of Chihuahua & Chesapeake retriever crosses to find homes for
I could show you several small male Chihuahuas clipped and not, the non-clipped are muscular bucks the youngsters lacking testosterone skinny rails, dainty little dogs. I've debated this with my Vet(country type guy) and he agrees over the years, male dogs are stronger if allowed to mature until they "drop" Every male I've had (outside of Samson AKA fuzzy buddy the yorky) I've let develop to maturity, and females as well - they need the hormones to become strong bodied adult dogs
That's standard dog protocol. Beautiful pup WS! I hope to be creating a thread soon too about a new pup.
I personally feel that two dogs are easier than one dog, and that their personalities are more gentle and more tolerant of kids etc. We always have had two or three at any one time. They keep each other company when we go out for a while. I am lucky because my dogs don't chew up stuff. They don't bite and they love kids. Oh, they have some bad habits, but so do I. Not a perfect world, but it better with them. We also have 6 cats. Not planned, but it is the way it ended up. All my furry friends have been neutered, are up to date on their shots, and are fed quality pet food that doesn't have grain or by products. No imported food for them at all. Good luck with the pup. She has a loving home.
