in the Seattle area less than 1" of rain during those 2 months. may/ june is usually rainy here and the local joke is summer starts July 5th

Seattle has been in the upper 80's low 90's most of june now. Its 89 according to my acu-rite in my back yard at 6:30PM. Calling for 97 this weekend in Seattle:hair: Keep in mind the majority of the PNW houses do not have a/c in them, makes sleeping very difficult.

The state is very dry, eastern Wa is on fire, Western wa is dry as well, the other day there were a couple idiots driving up I5 and pulling over and starting grass fires with road flares, cops still have not found them http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20150701/NEWS01/150709887

Think the local fire depts are going to have their hands full this 4th of July weekend. looks like already starting

I wish the best for you. I went through that in 2012. Spooky when the drought maps turn maroon red and then hearing the red flag fire days on the news all the time. Almost 600 homes burned in our drought peak, ours survived thankfully.

Are you prepared to evacuate if needed?

Yep, very dry and very hot here in Spokane County. The forecast doesn't show any highs less than 90 in the next 10 days, and the 4th is supposed to over 100 again.

No aircon here. Feels like Congo again.

Driest May and June here as well. BC has used most of its fire fighting budget already and summer is now here. Incredible!

I dont think I need to worry all that much myself as i live in the city about 6 blocks from a fire station, its the people in rural areas that I worry about, especially eastern Wa folks

I was in Spokane last weekend for a family reunion it was well over 100. funny thing is it did not bother me that much with that dry heat, but when we got back to western wa where it was in the high 80's with humidity it was very bothersome

That is true. I used to say that the dry heat thing was baloney, but I have lived in hot humid and hot dry, I'll take the dry for comfort. Though I like the green beauty of hot humid.

Had a USFS Forester in the shop today, asked him what the fire forecast was. "Non-existent" was his reply. We are green all over the place, except for the standing dead beetle-kill lodge pole. That stuff is at 14% MC, tested.
Had 7 days in May it didn't rain, 3rd wettest on record. Getting drier now, having to water the lawn and trees.

Try window airconditioning units. It is what most people here use. They work rather well.

Move East to Ohio/PA. Yesterday was the first dry day in at least two weeks. The forecasters are calling for more rain today and tomorrow.

Odd facts: In a normal year, Pittsburgh ties Portland with the most overcast skies. Elkins, WV has been named the most overcast place in the US.

I had the same experience in cold weather. The same temperatures in Cali or Chicago in the winter froze my tootie compared to that temp in CO/WY.

Didn't the Pacific NW experience this same thing just a couple years ago?

Here it is July. Haven't run the air condition in the house or in the car. Was tempted to run the heat a few times, but the stove is in the garage during the make over going on here.
