As most know, I'm recovering from surgery and the therapy ordered is to make sure the bottoms of my shoes meet the ground a few times each day. That is, my surgeon believes walking his the best therapy and this is the third time I've hired him plus 3 times for my wife.

However, with all the recent rain, the mosquitoes are very hungry! Funny that just a couple weeks ago we could go out and rarely see a skeeter except late evening. Now they are all over you from the time you go out (a Thermacell is a must have!)

So, for those who are out cutting wood, that is okay but I'll wait until after skeeter season to do the cutting.

On normal skeeters I have heard good results, however at our work them darn skeeters just yank the thermacells out of your hands and fly off with them!

Was at The Wally World yesterday and saw a display of Thermacells for $19.97.
Ya' gotta' buy extra stuff occasionally, but they do work well.

Yep - mosquitoes, knats, bees, biting flies, all part of being in the woods this time of year. Friend of mine was cutting a downed tree the other day and put his hand within 12 inches of a rattlesnake! Not to mention all of the extra sweating! Not my favorite time of year to cut for sure, but it is the time of year when I have the most time....

All the time I spent splitting on Sunday was nearly bug free. I had no need for any sort of repellent.

With all the rain we've had, I'm shocked the Skeeter's are not that bad. I'll report after staying in the camper up north for a long weekend regarding the bugs.

I got out today and stacked a few rounds that I had cut on Sunday. After a week of almost daily rain those little buggers were out in force.

Just to clarify, after reading my previous post.........the Thermacells are $19.97 each, not the whole display.
I'd hate for someone to go there expecting that.:picard::rofl:

Skeeter can carry some very bad diseases. Best to wear the right clothing and use something to keep them away from you. Some folks use those propane skeeter things that can keep an area clear of them.

We've got bats, but I think their radar isn't working well. We still have way too many skeets.:picard:

We used to go to the bat church at dusk and watch them fly out. It was a constant stream of about six bats at a time coming out the window for about 40 minutes
    this is at the church

    this is at the cave/mine
