Temp is 17, Wind is 15 to 23mph
Loaded it three quarters full with oak and ash uglys
Usually I don't turn the air all the way down, Today I have to, and I am glad I have a blower.
With the blower on medium is keeping it down to 740 Stove top.
It has been rolling for an hour now

740 is hot! I'm thinking you have quite a warm house with those numbers

    it's the
    "Burning learning curve"
Takes some time to get each system figured out.

Weather swings are tough to adjust for.
After a while you'll get to where you know the setting for "X" weather
& not be tinkering with it.
Bet you had similar issues with your old stove, just not a sensitive to minor adjustments
& you knew that system well.

I found it's better to burn on a little higher setting than try to tweak it down.
I'm hitting more & more night settings near perfect after a couple years :)
Wind stopped sometime last night, (45 mph to 10)I struck out with that one, LOL

Each stove is different but maybe you are letting the load get going too much before dialing the air down. Just a thought, I'm not there.

For his stove it's close to typical! When I had my Lopi Endeavor I would never leave it without it burning for an hour or so. It liked to head for the moon when it was teens or colder. The stove was basically uncontrollable with my chimney when it was cold, it's one of the big reasons it's no longer on my hearth.

My Endeavor tried that tonight at 18° outside temps and a fully loaded firebox. The top got up to 700. It is a learning curve, and once the heating season is here in earnest, then you'll pretty much have it down pat. I can say that throttling it back too late will get you close to a runaway on a full box almost every time. That's what did it to me tonight.

I babysat it a few times last year, which was my first year burning wood. I think there will be much less of that this year.

For good reason it is no longer on your hearth. But one can not say this is typical for epa stoves in general. Of course there are exceptions to every rule.

NO. That dry punk will not affect it or if it does, it would tend to slow it down a bit at the start.

    Thanks for the tip
Dialing it down sooner now, Sneaking up on it rather than blasting it and then bringing it down, And it is working very well.
