Took my 1911 to a to a Gun shop--gunsmith to have the sights replaced with Novak sights and the guy botched the job. He's refusing to buy me a new slide, he says it'll buff right out, kinda sounds like that line from Trains, planes and automobiles--RIGHT? what a JA!
Ugh....I hate hacks. Take good pics, call his boss or shop owner and calmly explain that you will let him try to make it right... but if you are not satisfied, you will be calling the bbb, and posting the pics of his work and reviews of the work anywhere you can. Once he figures out you aren't going to quit, he will see it'll be cheaper to just get you your slide rather than lose business. Unfortunately, nowadays you have to force most people to do right, after wrong.
The cut is too long by .25 at least and not flat .005 taper. He did it with a dull high speed endmill.
Yeah, I like the old gun, it's not much to look at.---- It shoots well and will feed most any kind of ammo you give it, even my reloads. It had the low military sights (blade rear sight) and it got to the point where I couldn't see the front sight anymore. My eyes aren't all that good anymore. The ones I'm having put on are Novak white dot sights.
