044 with narrow bow bar

    Long story short, I bought a bow bar from Guido Salvage and put it on an old 044 I had. Turned out nice. I had to have my Stihl dealer turn down shoulders of studs to fit bar and make me a 81 link chain. I also has to weld one side of the oil hole to keep it from slobbering.     Thats more of the "clearing blade" style and not a true bow bar, which are wider and flatter on the tip.

    I am by far no expert on bow bars though.

    Glad to see you got the foot turned around, I shipped it that way to keep it from punching through the box. I may need to set up an 026 with one like Jim had at the GTG.

    I'd like to take his apart and look how he did his. I thought he said 83 links. I used 81. 044 and 026 souls be the same unless his bar is different. Thanks again for the bar Gary.
