    That's a lot of work for a 3 foot tree trunk. ;)

I didn't even have to listen to it, I was already laughing out loud. I miss them on the local station.

You don't know any long haul truckers do you? Back when I used to drive I hauled a set of engine heads from New Mexico to North Dakota in my sleeper. Took a few weeks and about 5000 miles but eventually they got there and I pocketed a 100 $.

I've heard this too. Some guys on another forum have used them to ship garden tractors across the country for a reasonable price.

I'm trying to give WildWildWest a good deal on an old winch he thinks he might have use for with they're new boat (it's heavy), but the &^*% $hipping costs are nuts. Looks like wildwest has got some good suggestions here. Anybody know of a trucker dead heading back west from Maine?

Can it be shipped in two pieces?

Probably but I'm not sure WWW would want to have to bolt it all back together again. That could be a last resort tho...

Well, you only need to shed about 15 lbs and if WW can provide a business address to ship it to. Not sure if that's feasible, but it could be. Remove the cable and ship it seperately?

Yep... I was just thinking about that and the channel mount under the winch could be removed too. Looks as tho it can happen... just wondering what the end $$ shipping would be for the 2. The channel and cable could go in a HD cardboard box anyway.

Shipping two boxes parcel is going to be cheaper than 1 box freight.

I know WW has been emailing shippers and I've called a couple here in Maine. Looks like I'll prolly get out the 545 and cut that baby in half... :saw: ... ;)

If you can get it to a smallish box for the small parts usps flat rate box might take the other pieces for $23. Fasten will ship a pallet of stuff for $200

I did a quick quote on ABF's site and it said $388. I agree though. See if you can split it up.

That's odd. A guy shipped a pallet full of saws for around $180 from VA to Illinois or somewhere out that way.
