You have not done maths until you have done three space calculus.

    Kimberly,
All in good nature d fun, If you can do three space calc. You should be able to divide a fraction in half....LOL Maybe easier to convert to the decimal equivalent and divide in half. Then convert back to a fraction.
The difference is what I call practical math. The majority of the population that took calc. (me included) never use it. But, we use 4th and 5th grade math all the time.
I was never a whiz at calc but as my wife said I am a whiz at practical math.
This is as she is this summer working extra as a teacher re-writing the curriculum for our school district of 18 elementary schools, 4 Junior highs and 3 high schools. She is the 2nd grade representative on the committee. Very interesting on where teaching math is going in this new computer age.

If you ever took a typing class (might have been introduced in the 80's/90's) when computers were still basically only useful as word processors they taught the "home row" technique.
Your left fingers stay home on A,S,D,F right on J,K,L,:
You memorized the keyboard and keep your eyes on the screen (no hen pecking)

That is the way I learned it in HS. I am one of those left hand dominant people who had the pencil stuck in their right and forced to use it in my right hand. My penmanship is horrid. So I learned to type in HS and that ended my penmanship issues.

Electric typewriters were far and few between when I learned to type. Mom still has a couple of the big old Remingtons she learned on. Kids in school today don't know what they are.

Back to the quality of hired help issue.
I needed to have the trusses and roof installed on a house I am building and I was running out of time to have the place covered for winter so I asked for a recommendation from the guy at the contractor's desk at my Lowes. We talked it over for a few minutes and he told me about a guy who had a serious personal loss and had been in trouble with recreational drugs. According to him the guy was good at what he did and was trying to regain a reputation for being dependable. I set up a meeting with the guy at a local restaurant and went over with him what I was looking for. We ended up agreeing on him doing the work and agreed to a price. I may have gotten lucky but the job turned out great.

    Oldman47,
You are lucky. Finding someone to do a partial framing of a house is a tough task. I think since you met him before you told him to come to work was a good idea, you sorta scoped him out. I have a guy that I use to help with mechanical repairs that has been thru alcohol treatment at least 5 times. Each time it last longer. I admire him for not giving up. He is a great guy (when he is sober) and a fantastic mechanic (electrical, heating and plumbing, etc.). I gotta pick him up because his drivers license is way gone.
Sometimes we give a second chance and it turns out. Glad it worked out for you.
