With a couple more weekends of work I will be to the highly sought after 3 year ahead mark! It's tough to tell from my poor pictures but there is approx. 3 1/2 cords in the shed that's ready to go! There's about 6 cord CSS, including my 2 hillbilly kilns outside. It's a mix of of red and white oak, ash, walnut, and mulberry with about 1 cord of shoulder season soft maple. I sure couldn't have gotten it done alone! My wife stacked every split of it!! She's great help to put it mildly. She did take offense to me putting up these pic's because there are a couple of leaning stacks!! Have a great day all!! Time to relax.
To heck and back with that. That's AWESOME! She should be proud of all that work. Stacks start leaning pretty quick once in the sun and wind for a bit. We all know how much work she put into that. Kudos to her (and you too, Pete). In case I haven't said it, welcome aboard the FHC. You definitely belong here.
Nice job! Your wife deserves a massage..... Looks like your stacks will season well in single rows out in the sun.
Shoot, man- you got this Flatlander Pete! But why don't YOU be the one to administer the massage- not that Fanatical1 isn't a stand up guy or anything
You and your wife both did a great job. The three year plan is a boatload of work but the payoff is worth the trouble - efficient combustion. Welcome to the club, Flatlander Pete! Oh, and thanks for the pictures, we like pic's here.....LOL
Pete, You and the first lady are looking good. That is impressive, and she is disappointed? She better not look at my stacks.
Pete, I love the view, It reminds me of my sisters place just outside of Mendota, IL The crop is looking good. Are those soybeans?
Just noticed something Flatlander Pete- small splits- you got a rocket stove and holding out on owning up?
Nice stacks! Small splits, single row, they will dry nicely. Lots of work there, both you and your sweetie. Are they off the ground? Greg
Thanks for all the kind words! Minnesota Marty, just behind the stacks in the picture to the right is the edge of my sunflower field. I planted about 2/3 of an acre of clearfield black oil sunflowers to keep the doves happy. Behind them is soybeans. In fact I'm surrounded by soybeans this year! I'll get a pick up when the sunflowers bloom. Eric VW, good eyes!!! I started splitting small in fear that I may not get too far ahead and would need to get the wood dried out sooner. I figured a small hot fire would be better than no fire. As it has turned out, good friends have been the reason the stacks are growing. It seems there is always someone with a descent tree to get rid of, or they know someone that wants one gone. It feels good to be lucky! bushpilot, They are off the ground. We just layed a row of splits from shoulder season wood on the ground and stacked on it. Works pretty well! There are a lot of fun responses to the thread! The wife sure is a keeper, and deserves that massage! (Which I will administer!) She works inside all day, and loves to be outside. It's a bit of therapy to her to stack the wood. "The wood doesn't talk back or argue!" LUCKY ME AGAIN!! We have several ash trees and two good size oaks to get at as soon as it dries enough to get a vehicle or tractor to them. I'll keep you all posted! Have a great day!!
