Reverse Osmosis for my truck hauled water in old cistern?

    Had one similar in the remote camp I worked at.
    Used it for drinking & cooking water.
    Slow, but keeps up easy with drinking cooking water & we got good water. Better than distilled.

    This is the drinking water one. See the faucet? It's really the same setup as mine but it lacks the Deionization chamber. DI water is not good to drink, but great for fish. When I make drinking water, I just switch the valves on line so it doesn't do RODI, just RO. When I get enough drinking water, I flip it over to DI and fish tank water refilling.

    Mines a different model, but they are all nearly the same, just more or less filters, and attachments, as well as different cartridges.

    Thanks!! I am spending over $200 per month for drinking/cooking water. For less than that I am giving it a try, I also ordered a special test kit to make sure it really works and the water is safe. My kitchen sink has 4 rim holes in it, I will replace the soap pump with the spigot for the filtered water. Edit, I will nicely ask my husband to install it I meant to say :)

    I distill my drinking water. I can do a gallon a day which is all I need, but reverse osmosis is good also.
    Since they are doing a lot of fracking here for oil I decided not to take any chances with the well water.

    I bought a small distillation unit that runs on 110v. Got it thru Amazon. My wife and I use it only for drinking water.
    We of course have other beverages that we enjoy drinking other than water.

    The dark blue line in the diagram, the waste line for this is 1/4", suppose I can use and additional 15' of 3/16" line before emptying into the our grey water drain? The line will not be under pressure, it will dump freely into the washing machine drain (grey water)

    Working great after a minor leak stopped!! Getting used to a different tasting water but relieved to be done with bottled water. Each 5 gal bottle was $13 initial deposit then an additional $160 per month to get the bottles refilled, plus additional $50 to pay handyman to pick up and deliver bottles and return empties.

    Update, he ended up running the waste water line to our septic tank. Not our first choice.....it can be changed in the future if needed.

    PIA for my husband to bring home water, but you can't beat a couple bucks for 500 gallons of city treated water!!

    This "connection" needs to be a "safe waste" with "air gap"

    the filter drain pipe ends above the floor drain. (It could run into a laundry sink).
    so if the floor drain (or sink) were to back up it would not come into contact or back up into the filter drain.

    I looked at the pic again. I see filter drain tied into the sink drain now. Thats good. (as long as the flow restrictor is there):yes:
