And I'm probably going to burn some propane this winter.

Summer fill was 1.39/gallon, pre-buy was 1.59 per gallon. I think I can fill the tank and use that for the shoulder seasons, and then burn corn for the main part of the winter, supplementing with pellets when it's really cold.

Never thought I'd voluntarily burn propane again...:picard::faint::loco:

I don't know what you have for a heating system, but that is a darn good price. I paid an initial price of $1.79 and was told after that it was going to on $2.09 for a year. I burn pellets and love it. Will still burn pellets but not as aggressively.

Spring Fill was 1.89 it is just under a Dollar now. My tank is hooked to a kitchen range, water heater, and furnace. I tried the furnace out last fall to see if it would work and it hasn't been on since. We heat Shoulder season with a Heat pump and the rest with mostly corn.

I dislike all the fine print with the propane dealers here. As of now it's cheaper than pellets. My basement is fully stocked with pellets for this heating season only because I can pre buy them without the fine print.

Just checked with my propane company- 1.39/gal. Anyone else check theirs lately? I wish I owned my own tank. There is a company called thrifty propane that's selling for .69 gal!!!

A gallon of propane, $1.39, is about 11 pounds of pellets (rough average BTU equivalent). If you are paying $250/ton then that is about $1.42 in pellets. Now the efficiency of your stove or propane heater makes the difference...

Cheapest pellets locally 269, add in hauling or delivery, TIME, efficiency, and Fossil fuel is winning.

I just worked the numbers. LP vs pellets. At today's price, LP is costing me a buck more per million BTUs. My new heating system is 95% efficient. However, I'm not holding my breath for that to last. LP will go back up, just don't know when.
