Wow. One of the quickest and most thorough thread derailments in FHC history.

    Only one thing missing:

Does beer go well with bacon?

    Ok back on topic:

    1) Can you fry bacon sautéed in beer on a 1000• coal fired cannon stove?

    2) What the heck is a cannon stove?

I had some bacon flavored popcorn for the first time the other day. I didn't think I'd like it but I couldn't put the bag down. Bacon is dangerous...

Personally, I'd hate to run any stove at 1000 degrees. I think maybe 850 would be about my limit. 800 even better.

Before I got the old Ashley fixed to better control air intake, it pegged the surface thermo., and I'm pretty sure it was hotter. That topped out at 900.
After fix, I could mostly run it below 700 fairly well.
No interest in purposely running a stove that hot.

Hmmmm… Agree with Dennis and Dave, Being cast; 750 is my limit . Things would be very ugly if say water from a steam pot hit it. My opinion, no need to get it that hot.

I'm funny about even getting the Fishers past 500.
