Had some time off from work the last two days so my buddy and I dropped two oaks and did some splitting. We were gonna drop a third today but after looking a little closer he's leaving that one up to the pro's along with 4 more oaks and a beech.

Used the new 036 today for some limbing and a little bucking. Saw ran great and has a nice feel to it. I suspect it's gonna end up being the go to saw! Didn't have it yet when we snapped the saw pics. We took that yesterday and it was on my porch when I got home!

And yes, that metal destroyed a brand new chain on my buddies 660 in about the fourth cut..lol..

The wood in my truck is going to the 17/18 stack so I'm now working third year wood! Hydraulics and red oak are great for some nice square easy to stack splits!

Most of that oak looks so clean that you probably didn't even need the hydraulics. Real easy splitting wood with great BTUs...

Nice score & a nice collection of saws.

Other than a couple of rounds, that stuff popped easier than any oak I've split. He broke a couple in half with one swing from the second picture. That was 18" to 22" stuff but the first branch was near the top of the tree.

The one in the first picture had a few knots in some rounds but still popped pretty well for the most part. That tree produced a lot of bigger stuff in the top as well with some good size branches.

Too bad I couldn't take all of it but it's his place we were cutting at. He feeds an owb and a stove with it. He burns a lot of wood..

That is some great firewood. Too bad about the chain. Don't want to do that very often.

Yeah, red oak is awesome for making nice squares for cribbed ends. The hydro's allow you to make perfect square pieces.

Good fun except for the bogarted chain.

I have a lot of yard tree maple in this one stack that won't split straight for anything. Had some yellow poplar from last week and the 036 that's new to me so I figured I'd noodle up some squares to crib the ends:loco: . I made a giant mess but it was fun and seems like it's gonna work well. 20150620_115344.jpg 20150620_115336.jpg 20150620_123405.jpg

Gonna try to stack some of that oak before it gets ugly here. The sky looks ugly but at least it's already split so I can back right up to the stacks.. 1434839082064.jpg

1434841596544.jpg 1434841628387.jpg Thought I was gonna have my first 17/18 full cord stacked. Missed it by the amount of splits it would have taken to level with the back row since it's generally 5 feet tall. Oh well, it's all black locust and red oak that will have the rest of this summer plus the next 2 before it's used..

So was the 036 pro to your liking? Awesome looking stacks. Looks as if they are part of the landscape.

Oh yeah. Saw runs great and has a good feel weight and balance wise. Was actually surprised how well it noodled those rounds.

That 036 is a real work horse of a saw - looks like it's getting the job done over there too! :saw::saw:

Great looking yard, noodles, stacks, truck - love it! Looks like your neighbor wants to grow some white pine roots in his basement though! o_O:picard:
