Well, a good 1/3 of the trunk anyway... My BIL helped me get some of my maple slabs down to the basement today. We couldn't manage the 6" slabs - I took a flying elbow to the rib from my volleyball teammate Wednesday night, and my BIL's back couldn't take it either. I free handed one of them in half; I think I'll pick up a mini mill before we grab the rest.

Stay tuned for more maple pics!

Shawn, did you embed rollers into that infeed table?
Eric, at least he didn't claim a chess injury. :picard: Never live it down.

Yep, there are slots routed into the infeed and outfeed tables, that accept some cheap roller track I picked up. I made those 2 workbenches a little over a year ago with this purpose in mind. The height of rollers are a pretty close match to the height of my bandsaw table. But they're also a good match for my table saw as well, so I've had the outfeed table set up as the outfeed of my table saw. The infeed table duals as my chop saw station - I made an auxiliary fence that also sits in the slots.

Shawn, how long a piece of slab will the band saw take?

My sled jig is only 8' long, and it definitely works better when the piece is shorter than the sled by a couple feet. These slabs are 8.5', so the last few inches I was pushing the log through without a guide. My improved jig will have at least 10' of runner, with some extending past the ends of the deck, to keep it aligned for these longer pieces.

I can't really go any longer than that - I'm basically limited to around 8-10' due to the space contraints of my basement workshop.

What's the end product with these? Is this the flooring?

Yeah, the plan for the maple is new T&G hardwood flooring for my kitchen and dining room. There might be quite a bit left over too for other projects I haven't thought of yet. :)

Yep, you got it - G0513ANV - 17" anniversary edition. I upgraded the guide bearings from the "euro" style to the roller style. It's a pretty nice machine for the price.
