    Great news!

I included three 52dl 3/8lp chains. Two are ready to cut, and one will have to be sharpened(something to practice on).

Yes, my friend mentioned there were three chains as well, thank you so much.

Yes, my friend will be traveling down at the end of the month and will be bringing the saw to me. When I have it I certainly will share photos.

Speaking of sharping chains, that is something I need to learn to do. Do I need to get one of those thingys that clamp to the bar?

A guide might be a good start. Bit not necessary. There are plenty of videos on you tube. I know Mike has a few videos, but think they may be square file?? Shawn I think may have some? Butlet some of the other guys post you some good ones.

Guides help lessen the chance you screw up. But free hand and taking your time works well also.

Probably the best choice for getting consistent angles with minimal financial investment.

Oh, the joys of sharpening, Kimberly :D:faint:
You could go for a simple hand file guide, bench top grinder, jigs, local shop... Goo goo some you tube vids on it- can't remember who has a link in their signature line to sharpening????

There a hand full of guys on here that can take an out of the box chain and make improvements to it so that its sharper than when new.

That is just a file holder. Those work bit dont clamp to the bar so your still just free handing. It just has the angles marked on it so you dont have to guess/free hand.

The thing jon linked to will keep your angles all correct and take the operator out of it somewhat.

I used the think you linked to for years but dont quite think the file got down onto the gullet as deep as need be.

The roller guide that Husq/Jonsered makes is pretty cheap and works well, but the bar mount vise that jon1212 posted would be much more consistent and train you to the angles needed.

Good on you Jon for sending that little saw!!

    Thanks man.

I also like the Granberg type set up because it trains muscle memory, so if you have to touch up out in the field with just a file and guide, you are more apt to be really close to correct.

I recently bought a Granberg file n joint, I did quite a bit of searching for best price before I bought it and best price was at Northern Tool $36 shipped to my door

Take note that Jig does not come with any files, so you will need to know what chains you have on your 2 Saws and get the right size files you need, separately

    Kimberly,

Send me your direct address, and I will send you a file set. That way all you have to come up with is the Granberg type unit.

    Thanks, mang.

I learned about recognizing a need, and being generous from this guy.
