    Kim-this is so true! It's not so much of a recommendation, but more of a necessity. The newer EPA stoves (which I'm thinking is what you probably have) require wood that is dryer than what used to be burnt in the older non-EPA stoves. (referred to as smoke dragons...)
    You will find many threads related to properly seasoning wood on here.
    Sounds like you may watch youtube also for the vids posted of wood cutters. You will also find vids of people who have a EPA stove that (according to them) is nothing but a piece of junk cause it won't burn wood unless you leave the door on it open. This is a sure indication that the wood is too wet. These people just tend to season their wood the "old" or "normal" way and haven't figured it out yet.

    After you cut it to length, split it and stack it and you're on your way. It will take some time for it to season and there are some "tricks" you can do to help it give off it's moisture quicker.
    A sunny location is good. A windy location is good. (for the stacks) A dry location is good. (wouldn't want a stack in the low part of a yard where it fills up with rain after a cloudburst...)

    At any rate, prepare to become overwhelmed when it comes to posting a question about how to season/store firewood!!

    I am going to visit my friend for a few days, help him with some things. I won't have internet access there. Then we are coming back here and he is going to show me how to use my new saw and cut some wood

    I saw this post awhile back and haven't had time to respond. This site is pretty awesome and unique. It's rare these days to find people on or offline that genuinely care. Lots of real people here, not the superficial stuff from other sites. Cheers to all!

    Yes, and I can testify firsthand. I am so happy I found this place because the people here are so nice and helpful and I have learned a great deal; I did not realise how much I had to learn but the people here have been great; they don't belittle you like some sites if you don't know something and ask basic questions. A big huge thanks to everyone at the FHC
