I get many items every month via Subscribe & Save, looking at Prime Pantry, whats the difference? Benefits or advantages of one over the other?

I feel like Subscribe and Save is more of a set it and forget it type of operation. Prime Pantry is more like a weekly shopping chore. It also cost like $7 to ship where S&S is free.
Like anything else some stuff using either method will be a good deal, some not so much.
I just started looking in to the S&S for some items that are kind of a pain to shop for. Toilet Paper, paper towels, deodarant, dish washer stuff. Things of that nature.

Bummer, looking for a new one, but no antipersperant, deoderant only. Brut is the standby and I have become accustomed to the scent over the years. Little pricier but I know no irriatation either.

    Prime Pantry, LOVE IT!

I have used it 3 times now. DH is now down to dairy, meat, produce and frozen stuff for shopping  Prices are not rock bottom, but can't beat the order being delivered to your door. I have had to order a few different brands vs my regular brands, again, the convenience is well worth it.

Wife used to complain that her deodorant never worked. I did some online research and discovered that Mitchum deodorant had high ratings. Bought some for her and she won't use anything else now. She even writes the name of it on the grocery list.

Of the hundred of items I have ordered from Amazon I had only 1 that was missing/damaged. Orders from Monday and yesterday had 3 items that were missing peices or damaged. I requested an automatic call back instead of online return (didnt want return, just the missing pieces). Wow do I love the automatic call back. So, one set of missing screws being sent, and the other two items being delivered soon. I have to box up the two replacement orders for pick up, but even that is easier than driving to a store/finding a parking spot/waiting in a returns line. Still thumbs up!

We get quite a few things on amazon, mostly things that aren't readily available a the local stores. Haven't joined any of their programs like prime or that other stuff they're always pushing at me. I rarely pay for shipping and it usually takes 8 days for me to get items, even though they have a major distribution center about 20 miles from me, but that's ok, I'm usually in no big hurry to get what I order.
I don't buy any food products from amazon except for coffee. There are some great deals on whole bean coffee.
Many of their food items though are higher than what I see in local stores.
I did break down and order something earlier this week that I paid shipping for, but I needed it fast and got it fast.

For one thing, you have to have Amazon Prime to use prime pantry. You can order ala cart, based on weight, and pay a set shipping fee per box. It is like having the grocery store deliver your groceries.
Subscribe and Save is buying one item on a regular basis at a lower price than just buying it one time.

Here's a good example. I use grill mates marinades regularly. I can buy them on sale at the store, 10 for $10.

Even with prime pantry I'm only saving about a dollar and if I got prime I'd feel like I had to buy more stuff to offset the cost of prime.

I guess it's just a personal preference thing. I like the freedom of being able to buy things on sale and if I get groceries regularly by mail, I'll miss out on saving money.
When I see items that I regularly buy that are dramatically reduced, I buy them in bulk and don't buy them again until I see it at that price again. And I don't mind going to the grocery as the stores around here are pleasant to shop at. If I had to shop 10 miles closer to the city, I'd probably be doing the amazon thing.

I have noticed that there are some things on amazon, like certain spices that I can buy in bulk and save on that I might be ordering, but not enough to get prime.

I am lucky to be able to shop locally, the nearest store is 10 miles away. However, there are things I want that the cookie-cutter stores don't have, so I buy them on amazon. I must admit I am a sucker for free shipping, and up to a year ago, it was tax free. The upside of that is they built a warehouse in my state, so sometime I can order something one day, and it will arrive the next!
What I really like is the service. I have had to call a few times, they have always replaced the items, and a few times I got them free due to the circumstances. For example, I needed canning jars desperately, everyone was sold out around here, and when they arrived, two jars were broken. Because they didn't want me to return broken glass, they told me to keep it, and sent another case!:D

With a prime membership on some non pantry items , if you choose a longer shipping time you will get a pantry credit.
Ordered some stuff awhile back that I didn't need in a hurry and got a $7 pantry credit.
I don't know how often this happens on orders if you choose the slower shipping but $7 credits could add up fast.
