Ok where to begin?? My brother lives in Logan,UT and is moving back to the east coast in December. So for a final farewell to the west we are going on an epic road trip August 22nd. We are driving from his home in Utah to Denali National Park in Alaska.

Rough mileage is 3200 miles one way. This is a one way trip for people as well as the vehicle, we will be donating it at the end of the journey. Hopefully it makes it, it is an older subaru that has always run a little rough. We will be hitting all the major parks. Yellowstone, Glacier, Banff, Jasper and a few others along the way. Camping in tents and doing it on the cheap. If anyone knows of any good places to see or things to do along the way please let me know. Major towns we will be passing include Butte,MT, Kalispell and whitefish ID. Crossing into British Columbia near Cranbrook, Windermere, I want to hit Fernie. Then cross into Alberta and hit Banff, Jasper, then it starts to get remote through upper British Columbia so hitting small towns on the way. Cross into Yukon and hit whitehorse before finally crossing into Alaska and past Fairbanks and towards Denali.

Lots of car time and lots of quality time with my brother and a good buddy (considered another brother) camping and probably wetting a few lines in lakes along the way. Cant wait hopefully the car makes it if not we will be hitch hiking and winging it but fun non the less. Here is the google maps rough outline of the trip.

And finally the two awesome wives my brother and I are lucky enough to have and put up with us going on these wild trips. This was at Teton National Park.

How many days have you taken for vacation? at 300 a day, thats 10 days + you can certainly do more, but if you're planning to see stuff, that's probably a good average.

Right now im doing 17 days for the trip, but who knows lots of people become sick right before or on the back end of a trip so might just make it an even 20!!!

Yeah it adds a little to the excitement/diceyness. Lol we should probably be ok and we will have some grizzly protection for sure.

Now that sounds like a super trip. Hope it all works out for you.

My wife and I have been to Alaska and I dreamed of making that trip on a bicycle too but have yet to do it. Perhaps some day bogydave and I can go on a bike ride together, maybe even a visit to moose camp!

Well the day is finally here. I leave tomorrow for my big trip. Its had some changes to it but still will be a heck of a trip.

Now it is just me and my brother going, and we are not driving to alaska anymore. Figured it would be to much time in the car and not enough hiking/backpacking. So the trip will be from Logan, Ut to Jasper National Park and back down. Stops will include Glacier NP, Banff NP,Jasper NP, Yellowstone NP and some other smaller parks such as mount assiniboine provincial park BC, wind river range in WY. Super excited and packed my backpack and will be tough to sleep and go to work tomorrow but after that I am a free man for 19 days!

Oh and as a special welcome to the west Glacier NP on friday is expecting some snow with temps down to 28F. But its going to be great and I will try to post some pics when I have service and time. But in closing here is one of the sights I hope to see (after a 17 mile hike).

Hope everyone is well and I will be more active on the site soon because when I get back I will be installing the NC-30!

I hope you can talk the others into swinging through the black hills-devils-tower-badlands areas, also.
    Drive safe!
