Oh, does anyone have a dolmar PS 510 muffler laying around?

If not, how hard are they to find?

Mine's a 78 Martinique, with the 351w in it. In this year, is the nautique ski hull, with all the options, including twin airhorns on the bow, right next to the ram air intake. I redid the whole interior in 02, when I got it. I built up the motor too.

I'll have to post up shots.

Any time you are around, I'll take you for a pull.

Nice... I grew up behind a boat on skis/ski/feet lol. In high school a family friend got a nautique and I fell in love with that boat, nothing like slalom skin with little to no wake!

I'm a wakeboarder, but I still break out a ski every now and then. I started boarding right when the whole trend was starting. Tried a skurfer, then bought a Connelly surf style single tip one and have been going since then.

Here's a teaser of what floor piece I'm replacing.

Got a new piston in the 026 and the saw back together. Had to clean some light transfer from the jug and rebuild the carb. Tuned up nice and the saw runs smooth.

The 55 Rancher I got from Guido Salvage cleaned up nice and fired on the 4th pull. I sort of wanted the saw because it was built the same year as my 372xp 5 weeks earlier. It will be fun to take both out cutting. My neighbor has a 55 and it might not be lightning fast but it is a solid firewood saw.

    Thanks again!

Nice, nice, & nice! Horkn clean up those peeled labels! foragefarmer, I like that Guido Salvage 55, looks good!
I grew up knee boarding, brother was the slalom skier- he could pull the back of the boat and bog down the Evinrude when in a deep cut, elbow scalping the water! Ah to be young again...

    Peeled labels schmabels.

That the original flame arrestor. I kinda don't want to do anything to it, besides replace the whole thing. There probably is a proper adhesive to use though.

    Cover goes down, nobody cares.;)

You can't bog this beast of a motor down, or pull it around with a board or ski. This boat has many compromises, power and tracking isn't one of them.

Here's the finished board, a 3/4" sheet of birch sanded ply, and a 15/32" sheet under that, screwed and gorilla glued together.
Then the piece was coated in epoxy. I used Us composites 635 epoxy that I had left over from my plywood/ epoxy glass fronted 200 gallon aquarium build from a few years ago. People make boats with this stuff. IMG_20150607_195837649.jpg IMG_20150607_195854388.jpg

It's much better than fiberglass, which is what I did the original piece with 13 years ago.

    Here's the offending piece. Rot.

    Then top.

I had to razor blade the grey carpeting off since it was 3m upholstery glued on, and it was SS stapled on wrapping around the edges of the board.

I'll attach the carpeting the same way to the new piece. I have to get some SS staples, and some more 3m adhesive. The carpeting needs a cleaning too. I probably should've cleaned the carpet on the old board, then let it dry, but it won't matter. I just don't want to clean the carpet while it's not attached to a board. I fear it will be a pita to get it put back on properly.

I've got scraps from when I carpeted it in 02, but nothing that big, and if I got new stuff, it wouldn't match.

It'll go in like this. This was before the pieces were joined together IMG_20150607_182046710.jpg , and they were just layed in place.

The carpeting will take up nearly all the side gaps, and be level with the rest of the boat floor.

Yeah, it's going to be as nice as it was originally. Using that nice 2 side sanded birch was overkill, but I had that piece laying around. Plywood is pricey now.

So would anyone buy a dolmar ps510 with a slightly scuffed piston that has no muffler but still had good compression?

I'm looking at one, wondering what you think would be a fair price?

    Any thoughts from anyone?

Perhaps Cut4fun would know more. I'm pretty sure Hedgerow, millermodsaws, know their way around the 510/5100 saws too. ;)

    I agree with Mike...
510 is a good sturdy saw, but under $150 for one with a missing mufler..
    Crap..

Seems like a decent deal. I'll see if I can snag it.

It will make you a fine saw at that price. :)

Yes get it. If you don't want it I'll give you your money back on it. I can always find a spot for a off brand saw:BrianK:
