In case anyone in NW Iowa wants to see it, channels 4 and 9 were there covering it.

No...we lucked out with the move. Power and cable raised a few lines but that was it.

Weeded the garden and plated 6 rows of corn and tied up the tomatoes. Finished the new chicken mini tractor/brooder. Got the camper cleaned up and ready to seal up some seams when it dries out for vacation in a week. Was going to pick cherries but they need another day.

    Manique! Lol

I planted the rest of my seed grown tomatoes, watered and weeded the garden. Now off to get gas to cut the lawn, and I have to sharpen the mower blades. I meant to do that memorial day.

Well the porch is coming along at my parents. And we had so much help today that I and one of my older brothers started building a new fence for the front yard and part of the side. (To meet up with the new one a couple other brothers put in the back yard a few years back. These two sections in an L shape really needed to be replaced! I ripped out the old one, and went and got all the supplies and then my brother and I dug the holes with a post hole digger and planted all the new 4x4s 3+ feet down with concrete around them. Then we put all the horizontal 2x4 p.t. rails up and about 1/3 of the p.t. pickets up. We are doing them one at a time because we did not like the looks of the pre-made 8 foot sections. All and all a good day with some good progress.

My wife and I were supposed to meet my ex coworkers at potowotomi casino tonight. We were leaving the house, and I texted one of them and she said that everyone boged out and didn't go.

One coworker and 2 sons will be deer hunting with my dad and I this fall for the first time, and we talked. We'll meet up soon, maybe next weekend.

In the fall, they will come up and help with whatever.

That will be nice as it goes from me doing most of the brunt work, with my 71 yr old mom assisting getting them set for winter up north, to 3more able bodied guys helping. The boys are 19 and like 25. It will be good having more muscle for chores.

Played plumber today. City tried to turn the water off for me last week ,so I could replace a broken valve by the meter.

The curb stop would not shut off so I was told at my expense I had to replace the curb stop so they could turn the water off. Major dollars in my case.

So instead of going through with that I decided to freeze the water service line with dry ice so I could replace the valve.

I built an insulated box around the waterline and packed it full of dry ice just below the broken valve (arrow).

Once frozen (about 90 min) we removed the valve and replaced it.

Of course we had to play with what was left over!
