He was just supposed to drag brush for me, but he wanted to help. He ended up putting two tanks through the saw. 77 years old!!!
How about that for being in decent shape?
It was a good day, that's for sure.

He ain't no slouch. When I got to our cutting spot I see his tailgate down and his old husky sitting on it. That saw hasn't ran or cut wood for probably ten years.
Thankfully he drained the gas back then, it was bone dry. I put some mix in and it fired up in about four pulls. Tiny bit of carb tuning with the orange screwdriver and he was off and running.
I bet he's tired and sore tomorrow, but we'll do it again for sure. He had a great time and so did I!

Couldn't help myself. Can't wait to run it. Going to put the 362cmr on the trading post pretty soon to keep the peace at home lol.

Did you cut some wood with it?

I did I ran maybe a tank of gas through it. It ran really nice once you got it started. It didn't like to start.

It was missing the boot for the intelli. carb.. The screen in the carb was jacked up by someone other than Randy rebuilding the carb, and the tank vent leaked. I would have just taken the parts and kept the saw but he offered me the 046 I part traded for it back. In freshly ported form I should add. And I went with that option.

I'm not one bit worried about it being tip top. Sounds like a strong runner, and Randy is pretty much the definition of stand-up guy.
I bet that 046 is pretty stout after he monkeyed with it.
Can't wait to show it to my dad, he thinks my mmms362 is possessed by the devil lol

Thank you sir, it was one of the coolest things to share with my old man. I plan to work with him as long as he can do it. Last time we cut wood together I was probably 15 or 16, can't remember, and I was dragging brush and loading the truck. I'm 40 now!
I remember him cutting with an old baby blue homelite saw that my uncle gave him when the power company left it in the ditch by his house lol. It was a big heavy sumbeeoch but it was as reliable as a swiss watch and cut many many cords of wood for us.

Sounds and looks like you two had a great time! That 460 should be a running azz saw. The 460 is a favorite of mine.

Awesome. I wish my dad would come cut with me. He will be 75 this year and mows lawns for a living, but won't come cut wood.

The stuff we're cutting now is for my dad to replenish his stacks. He always tries to give me money for gas and my time but I won't take it.
He's fiercely independent, he told me a couple years back that he would just use propane to heat his house in the winter. I told him no way and that he'll never run out of wood as long as I'm around.

Just have to say thanks to you guys/gals for liking my story.
Usually I'm not the sentimental type but watching my old man run his saw again and cutting wood side by side with him just made my day.
First thing I thought of was that I had to get a picture of him in action and share with the club.
He didn't see me snap the picture, he would've told me to get back to work lol.
He's a good man and I'm very proud to be his son.

I wonder how good it made dad feel to still be able to run a saw with his son ?

I would be thrilled to have the opportunity to cut with either my Dad (79) or my son (26). Two fine men.

Sounds like you had a good day with dad RJames. Mine is a bit too old for that, at 92, but he still can get around fairly well with his canes. I just spent a week visiting him at his summer home in Ontario. Winter home is typical of a snow bird living in Florida.

He was/is very proud to work side by side and that I've had the interest in logging. It's in my blood, I come from a long line of lumberjacks. I'm no logger by any stretch, really just a firewood hack.

Nowadays, I really enjoy it. Can't say that I liked it growing up, but I didn't know about natural gas or fuel oil back then and how nice it is to be independent of that stuff.

Heck, I didn't know what a gas furnace was until I was nineteen and bought my first house!! I thought it was some kind of witchcraft just turning a dial and it got warm in the house lol
