The picture below was taken the last time I was splitting wood and that is what was left. Finished that today so this split pile is all done. Now comes the stacking part but that may wait for a while. Might be good therapy when healing after hip replacement.

Thought about putting the splitter away but then remembered I have a bunch of pine to split yet. So, I may or may not get that done right away. Lots of other things waiting on me so it is a matter of setting priorities.

    Good job, Dennis!
Ah, priorities.. don't the things put off for higher priority have a way of automatically upping their importance the longer they go undone? That's how it goes around here mostly.
Your splitter is NEVER gonna work right tipped up like that...LOL

Looks good Dennis. If it can wait till next April? Leave it and numerous members will be there to help. I know you have enough wood to make it till them :)

Glad to have met you and Judy. Was a good time. To bad there was loud and overpriced saws there and we could barely hear one another. LOL

    Feels good, eh?
One more thing off the "to do" list.

The Pine will wait, it's lighter weight stuff to handle during recovery .

When you go in for the hip ?

Funny you mention those loud saws. We were about 30 miles from home when suddenly I remembered that our hearing protectors were still home. Forgot to put them in the car. So, we needed some new ones anyway and stopped at Cabela's and got a couple really nice ones. These will work better when shooting the rifles too as they are low profile.

I wish you the best and good results with your replacement surgery. That is a difficult decision to make, at least it would be for me. You have to believe you know what is best for you and stick to it. Don't skip any of the rehab. You'll be up and back at it. Good timing on your part to get this over with. You should have recovered fairly well by the time the ground is slippery. Is Judy having a garden this year?

We do have some garden but a bit smaller than normal. Even talked about possibly not having one but....

With the metal getting into the bloodstream and the vital organs at risk, the decision was not too difficult. In addition to the surgeon, 8 other doctors recommended I get it done quickly before something worse happens.

Not too worried about rehab. Had 2 hips done and so has Judy. Our rehab consisted of walking. Our doctor feels that it plenty and it worked well. The difference though this time is the hammering and chiseling to get the old one out before the new one goes in. They cut the bone in several spots then hammer and chisel. Would be interesting to watch but I fear this won't be quite like the first time around.

Yikes! I don't think I could watch that. Watched my knee surgery by getting a spinal, but it was just torn cartilage removal ... I would highly suggest sleeping through this one.

    Get well soon.

I finally figured out why Dennis splits verticle. So he can find his splitter in the wood pile ! :loco:

If there's anything you need Dennis while your hobbled up be sure and let me know. Maybe we can put you in the atv trailer and go for a ride in the woods ?
