My father found that draw bar. This will make it nice to drag logs with.

I am also thinking of building a box for hauling wood that I can attach to the three point hitch. Something nice and strong.

The internet is great. Isn't it? Check this out. This is almost exactly what I want for the back of the tractor. The tractor is smaller and can get around the woods better. A box like this would be great!

Just keep in mind that when you load the 3 pt like that, you need counterweight on the front end if you don't have any already.

Ya. I here ya. It all depends on how heavy you load it though. The engine on the front of these tractors is pretty heavy. Combine that with the front end, wheels, a full gas tank, the underside of with the oil pan, etc., etc. and it makes the front pretty heavy. I think loading a box of wood on the back with wood should not be a problem. I don't know how much weight would be too much. But I would think you could easily put 3-400 lbs of wood in there and not have a problem. Tipping a tractor over backwards by lifting the front wheels off the ground usually happens when someone is pulling on an object that is severely anchored and they are trying to move it. Like a tree stump. I could also see if someone was skidding a log and for some reason the front of the log caught the ground. Man, that would be bad news quick. Must be careful. I will research this some more. Thanks for reminding me of safety. I always appreciate that. I am a safety nut. At least I try to be. But you can become complacent easily.

The carry all on Northern Tool was $159. So I went to tractorsupply.com. They had one rated for 1000lbs for $129! It doesn't make sense to pay a welder and buy the material to build one. And the local TSC had one in stock.

    Santy came early! :D

I have a bunch of pressure treated wood from an old deck at the camp. Time to build a wood box!

There should be two bolt holes right under the radiator you can mount a ballast to. Your going to need it if you want to go up any kind of hill with a load on the rear and without extreme pucker.

I have to slow down now. I have been thinking of how I want to build this box and how many times I have thought about needing something to carry tools when I go into the woods with the tractor. But where could I put them. So I have been looking around a bit, and thinking of some of my own ideas for this box. But I found this to be interesting. If you watch the first one it went right through six videos I think it was and shows how they built the whole thing. Doesn't take to long either. Pretty cool. I have a bunch of old pressure treated wood from an old deck. Was thinking of starting on it tomorrow. But probably should concentrate on getting more wood out before the snow starts really flying. We'll see. Anywho, check this out.

This is handy as well. Should my box be able to do this?

    Separate from the carry all?

The two self propelled units were built by the father of a friend of mine. He had a sawmill for years and that is how he got logs out of the woods. His long time sawyer died a couple of years ago but would come out and run a mill up until he was around 90. The log arch belongs to another buddy of mine and he has used it from time to time. As you can see it has aircraft tires on it.

I just looked up the lift capacity of the three point hitch of this tractor. Says 1250 pounds. That is more than I thought it would be.

To actually lift that amount & keep the front end of the tractor on the ground you will need to add ballast to your front end. I have a loader on my tractor which provides enough weight for mine.
