It rained last night and it is raining this morning. We needed it. Hopefully a little later it will stop so I can do some work on my fence I am building down by the gate. My neighbor and I put the post in for a section of it from the property line to the gate. Between his auger and my backhoe we took our time and got it done. Lot of rocks and roots to contend with so it took us a while, but an enjoyable project. Now I can put up the two rails. I ordered and picked up large cedar post that are 6" or larger. I am cutting Ash logs for the rails and am going to try that and see how it looks. This will keep the cost down. I figure a top rail and one about half way down. This should make it easier to keep the grass cut around the fence. I am replacing a fence that was there but had been over grown by madness! Madness I tell you! Trees, brush, vines, vines, and more vines. It will take some more ground work after the fence is built, but will be worth it in the end.:dex:

Rain just landed for a 3 day fest. We sure need it. I actually got the cover on the Jeep before it started raining this time, instead of my usual torrential downpour fatman hussle... :hair:

Love the music for the hustle. Sitting here procrastinating and enjoying the posts from yesterday. I think we are going to Mom's to mow lawn and whipper-snip. We have had some unbelievable weather during May. Misty overcast in the morning clearing off to clear sunny skies just after lunch. Not much in the way of rain though. My roses are really coming along and although the peonies just keep getting bigger, they haven't actually opened so far. Can't wait until they do. It will be the biggest production of blooms so far.

Some of you may remember when I took a few Ash down for my neighbor that were hanging over her barn. This is what the area is getting to now. Some clearing, trimming up, and now the fence is started. Maybe I will get a few rails on this afternoon. Still raining a little right now though.

It is hard to see the large rock that we took out of the ground. Click on the picture and you will see it though. Of course it was right where one of the post needed to go. :picard:So I dug all around it. It is huge. I would not doubt that it weighs 7-9,000 lbs. I could not touch it with my Kubota. I had two neighbors come over. One was there with his Kubota to drill holes for me and help me get them set. The other came down with his big machine which is like an old style Pay Loader for lack of a better name. He got under it with his forks and could not lift it. And could not push it up and out. So we all put our brains together. Several ideas. Leave it and go around it. Get another big machine. (I didn't want to wait.) Dig big hole next to it and push it down in and bury it. But I wanted it up and out and use it for landscaping. Several times we thought we were not going to get it out. But I knew we could do it. So at my neighbors suggestion I dug a ramp for him to push it up. It would not go. Then I I put two long chains together to get around it. And another to go from them to my neighbors Kubota. He then pull with his tractor, while other neighbor pushed with his big machine, and I put my Kubota's backhoe over the top of it and pulled up. We got it out of the ground and it makes for a nice piece of landscaping. Just what I wanted! :handshake:

Yep, if someone left me enough money in their will, I'd have some of that equipment too.
Oh wait, that's not what you meant. Never mind.:D

Too wet to do anything today. :( But I did manage to sneak a lay-down in the chair. :D

Wife made Roast Beast dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, and peas and carrots. My parents came down. Good food and company.

Cut all the grass, stacked the rest of the oak I had split, went and got the spare propane tank for the barbecue filled and had chicken alfredo for dinner. All was good
