    Teachers were allowed to touch you and strike you if you were bad when I was in elementary.
    Can't imagine what the poor parochial kids had to go through.

    Yes, they were referred to as swats and they stung a lot, especially when it was administered by the gym teacher.
    If I remember right, his had holes in it and a lightening bolt painted on it.

    A long time ago at my job, a tiny older german woman kept track of a dozen salesmans equipment/sales.... I gave her a large wooden spoon (as a joke). My husband burned "Salesmans Paddle" on it.:rofl: :lol:

    I must have, but I think that help me to develop strategies to deal with things in a different way. I didn't get to skip violence. Uncle Sam saw to that. Good thing I was a medic. That was a mission I was good at.
